I wonder how far I can actually make it in Silksong.
Skarrsinger Karmelita is the answer, apparently ... #### everything about this boss. I'm a bit shocked to see her at the top of quite a few "best Silksong bosses", because to me, she ticks pretty much every box of what doesn't make a great boss. Completely random blocks? Okay then.
The other two "hearts" bosses were tough and a bit frustrating, but this one ... nah. There's some really cool bosses in the game, but others ... not so much.

Karmelita is a great boss because she's really dynamic in her motion and attacks. It's pretty different from a lot of bosses and forces you to be more patient. She only deals 1 contact damage so you can rush her down to take less damage. You can also deflect her projectiles which helped me a ton.
Karmelita is also a great test for you to learn how to fight a certain later boss in the game.
quite a few lists agree, so it's probably just me. I loved bosses like The First Sinner, even though she was pretty hard, but it was super fun. This one is just frustrating.

ha, I guess then that's the end of the line for me lol. But that's fine, I've had a lot of fun with this game, but it's been nothing but frustration in Act 3, so it's time for me to finish up anyway. I'll still try to finish the game (and technically, I don't need to beat Karmelita because I have the option of doing the Green Prince thing instead), but I won't sacrifice a ton of time to get it done. We'll see how it goes.
In the end, it falls short of Hollow Knight for me, which is a pity. I want to love this game, and I feel I should love this game. The gameplay is fantastic, and the overall design is phenomenal. But I feel Silksong wants me to be miserable and frustrated, and that sucks.
Good lord, the game awards are a trash product. I just turned them on to see how E33 was doing. They played 3 ads, then brought out some VA to lead into an ad for a new James Bond game with Lenny Kravitz in it, then he came out to plug the same game while awarding best soundtrack. Then they gave us 3 more ads, followed by just…. Listing a bunch of award winners without any presentation of any award or acceptance. Then back to another set of ads.
Imagine if the oscars were like this. Jesus.

I just check the highlights afterwards (and the odd thing during that pops up on social media.
Spoiler, e33 won everything, as expected.

Not sure I really want to get back into a Returnal game. The gameplay was fun but the whole personal hell in her own literal hell thing was pretty depressing.
But that ####ing climb to Hyperion and

Not sure if I'm more hyped for Divinity or Total War 40k. I tried linking their trailers but both are age restricted and won't embed haha
Total War 40k's Steam page has an interesting detail: you can customize your army's appearance and traits this time. So I'm guessing there's going to be a lot of focus on making your faction "your own".
I'm going to miss fantasy Warhammer's setting for Total War, but this gives me hope that Total War 40k can last just as long.
Most of the trailer had my curiosity. The final 10 seconds had my attention. But after learning that this is made by a bunch of ex-Criterion devs who worked on the classic Burnout games, I am fully invested now
