Hmmm, you're right, there was also a vietnamese gymnast and a spanish cyclist, and at least one other.
Still, it's way down from the 25 or so in Athens.

Ugh. that was the hardest morning of my life. Woke up at 4am to watch Vancouver choke as bad as the Canucks. Then I had to stay off the internet until my lunch hour so i could go home and watch the 4 X 100.
I guess being the flag bearer really is cursed. I hope Vancouver shakes it off for the 500 tonite.
What can you say about Bolt? breaking that world record by .3 seconds was huge. It's great to have Powell run the anchor leg for the relay. I felt kinda bad for him being this entire olympics.

I'd love to see us get 20; in order for that to happen, we need van Koeverden and Premont to meet expectations, and then beyond that, I think Reed is the best shot to medal.
Reed - 800m
Russell - Javelin
van Koeverden in K500
Beauchesne-Sevigny / Russell - C500 pairs final
Premont - mountain bike
Orlando - gymnastics
Synchro swim team

Don't forget Catharine Pendrel, who was the runner up to Premont in the World Cup for mountain biking. She also has a great shot at a medal.

Good start for Premont and Pendrel, both at the front for the start.

I really wish they'd have someone announcing who has a clue about mountain bike racing. Connolly proably hasn't ridden one ever and while I love Clara hughes, she's a track cyclist. Alison Sydor would have been a pretty good bet.

It'll be really interesting to see what the deal with Premont was. The shot of her carrying her bike looked like she was ok. I can only think flu or something like that as she physically looked fine.
Do you know if Sydor commentates or was available to commentate?

no idea. I should just be happy that they're showing this at all.
Premont looked fine, I'm wondering if it was mechanical as she was kind of carrying her bike. Crappy, as she's been awesome this year.

Confirmed that it is not a mechanical for Premont, but she isn't talking just yet.
Spitz is flying, hoping Pendrel hangs on for third.

Still very proud. I know Catharine's husband through another message board. She's had a fantastic year, she'll be back in 4 years.

I wouldn't give up on bronze yet - let's see the German pass her drug test first.

Sabine is a fine cyclist, with no background in drugs, also podiumed in Athens, former world champ as well. I'm not worried about her not passing the test.

I think this was touched on earlier in the thread, but we rally have no excuse not to have even a part time Handball team.
Watching some of the womens bronze medal, looks like fun..skilled and fast and physical but fun...and all you need to train is a gym and the ability to go play some top class teams a couple times a year.
I am sure the mens is even quicker and more physical, I'll likey have it streaming again here too after AVK and the other rowing is done tonight, as its the medal matches tonight.
