I don't mind Fatburger, but I frankly, I'd rather have Burger King.
Although, the MacLeod Trail Fatburger had a "Bento box" deal for a while that I liked - A jr cheeseburger, two chicken strips and curly fries.
Those chicken strips are amazing.

I feel like making homemade burgers is the only way to guarantee you're getting a really quality burger. You can make 4 1/4 pounders at home for like $11, plus you get to experiment with different toppings and seasoning combinations.

Generally, I'd agree. There is something about a burger cooked on the perfect flat top though that is difficult to replicate at home.

I'm 3 for 3 for ralphing when I eat at Burger King. Granted the second time probably had more to do with booze than the burger, but still, that's not a good ratio.
At this point I get queasy just looking at the logo.

I really enjoy getting creative with homemade burgers. Made a nacho burger with a fresh from scratch jalepeno cheese sauce. A chicken burger with kale and other healthy veggies. Last week I put shredded cheese and bacon bits in the meat mix before grilling like they do with some of those ready made patties. Turned out really good.

A friend of mine owns Wilks Booth - a burger truck in Airdrie.
Awesome hand-made burgers! Check it out if you're out there.

That's an odd name. Is their slogan "It will blow your mind" or "Assassinate your hunger"?
If it's really successful, will he open a chicken truck named Harvey Oswald?

Before the Burger craze swept Calgary, there was Burger Inn.
had a Super BIG a few days ago and it really hit the spot.
Super BIG: Double meat spiced pattie, bacon, fried onion, lettuce, tomato and BBQ sauce
Not a big fan of all their other meat patties but something about the spice in the BIG made the meat a little more moist than others

I have a big 1/2" thick piece of steel that I put on my bbq for cooking pizzas, but now I almost always often leave it on there to use as a flat top. The crustification you get on a burger when that thing is at 600*F+ is pretty crazy. I'll probably be making burgers later this week so I'll try to remember to take a photo.

Tried Culvers when I was in Minneapolis last week. My brother recommended it so I thought i'd give their butter burgers a try. Thought the burgers were meh but the shakes were awesome.

Their burgers are really good.
They are in Calgary sometimes. They have a facebook page, and update where they're going to be on any given day.

Your organizers would probably have to get in touch with them to see about that.

Griddle was about 570*F when I put these on. There's a bit of chipotle chili powder in the patties hence the color. Used 80/20 ground chuck for the beef.

Went to Boardwalk on opening day in Airdrie. Very disappointing. Burger patty was very dense and really dry. Not juicy whatsoever. Fries were bland. 4/10.
Was hoping it was going to be good because its pretty close to where I live. I wont be going back.

Good pub burger at Matador in Varsity - teriyaki burger with Swiss cheese and bacon. Go off the menu and get dill sauce for fries.
