Andy Murray d. Marin Cilic 3-6, 7-6, 6-2, 6-0

Cilic was up 6-3, 5-1! and then won an entire 3 games after that!

That is a definition of a MUG!

As much as the UK tennis faithful want Murray to win at Wimbledon, his best chance at a major has always been at Flushing Meadows.

Boo-urns on Fed losing. Berdych played like a beast though.

At least I have an RF hat on the way from a buddy who was at Flushing Meadows.

I agree boo-urns! You can really start to see the difference between Milos game and people in the top 6

Yeah, hopefully his game will continue to improve. He REALLY needs to be more consistent. If he could maintain a high level of play throughout a whole match he could very well be in that top 6 one day.

I personally believe he'll top out higher in the top 10... 8 or 9. But hopefully he proves me wrong!

Can you imagine a Canadian in the top 5?? Or a Grandslam win??

Even Berdych is wildly inconsistant. You saw how he played yesterday? He'll probably miss 50% of his shots against Murray on Saturday.

True, I think the difference is Berdych has more weapons when he is "on" then Milos.

Now that Roger is out, I hope Murray wins this. I feel bad for the guy.

fuuuuuu.

as usual, my advance prognosticating has resulted in the exact opposite thing happening. I hate sports.

when the hell was the last time there were major semis without both Fed and Rafa? it's gotta be something like 8 years ago. 2004 FO maybe? feels strange either way.

well I don't feel all that bad for Muzza since he got his once in a lifetime Olympic glory, so I'm flexible now. Wouldn't it be interesting to see maybe a non Big 4 do it? how about poor little Ferrer who probably does more with his limited physical gifts than anyone else? I could cheer for that, but it just won't happen.

I got to witness, in person, the "joy" of having a non-big 3 win the US Open when Delpo beat Fed in 2009...

I'm satisfied until all 3 retire on that front

Although you're right, Ferrer deserves one for sure.

Djokovic - Aussie open; Federer - Wimbeldon; Murray - Olympic gold; Nadal - Roland Garros. Let's see who will add the US title between Nole and Murray. I don't think Berdy can beat Andy and Delpo has a big question mark regarding his wrist.

Del Potro just played the best set I've ever seen someone lose. When Novak is playing like that, I seriously do not think anyone can beat him.

Nole is literally impossible to knock off the ball on hard courts. Murray might be a sentimental favorite, but all his tricky spins and angles won't help if every shot just comes back with interest.

I heard this is the last year they're going to be doing Stupid Saturday, in which they ensure the men are as drained as possible for the finals. at least one of these guys is going to be praying for Sunday rain.

still cool though. you wouldn't have heard this if you were actually there at the time (unless your seats were unbelievable), but we also got the joy of hearing Fed curse on live TV for probably the first and last time in tennis history.

Del Potro with the fantastic moment at the end, about as good as a guy can play and get straight seted.

I remember the commotion. They give out free ear pieces to the fans so they can hear the commentary so when that happened the whole stadium was abuzz.

And no our seats were at the top. Anything lower then the third level is ridiculously expensive.

The best was the fact that I was also at the semi's that year and saw Federer's first between the leg shot versus Djoko

It rained for an hour, now it's extremely windy and they're trying their best to play.

It's going to rain again soon.
