Sounds like they blocked sending of attachments to non-UofC addresses. As a test, send yourself an email (to your UofC email address) with an attachment. If it goes through, then they are blocking outside email address.
If it doesn't go through, then it could be something else.

CPCHT,
I've got a video file with a .xvid-xor extension. WMP says it won't play it because it can't find the right codecs. I've tried the most recent one off the xvid site (1.1.2), as well as various codec packages, and none worked.

Are you sure that is the extension? Or do you have registered extensions turned off and it is really .avi?
In any respect, it should be just an xvid. Try finding the defiler codec pack. It has worked well for me. Or you could download VLC and try playing it with that (it uses codecs built into the program, so you aren't supposed to need to download any new codecs).

Definitely the extension. VLC works! Awesome. Thanks.

Turn down or off your hardware acceleration.

I have a on going issue where any time I open a folder in windows explorer and some of the files in the folder are video files (format does not seem to matter, e.g. .avi, mpeg etc...) the explorer window freezes and if I do it quickly enough and do an end task on the not responding explorer window my computer doesn't fully lock up.
Opening video files with a program like VLC (File - Quick Open file) works fine and I can explore a directory via that way. but I cannot use windows explorer (or my computer) to look at those folders. If there are no video files in the folder I have no problems, for example I could look in a folder with picture files without issue, but if there was one video file in there (whether it was from my camera or downloaded movie clip or full movie) it will lock up the explorer window and possibly my entire PC.
This issue is on both of my hard drives and removable media storage like flash drives or CDR's. DVD's or videos opened in VLC play fine... any ideas whats going on?

This small google desktop box shows up on my monitor seemingly randomly. I haven't set it to appear. It appears on my screen for awhile then disappears, then a few weeks later reappears. How do I shut it down?

Suddenly my microsoft office 2003 will not send or receive emails. I have tried turning off my firewall and system restore doesn't work either. The only thing I had done lately was install the ATI control center for my graphics card.
Oddly, my skype and limewire programs will not connect either. I also cannot connect to the Windows Update page; it just keeps searching for updates then eventually ends with an error message. Anyone with any ideas? I cannot find anything on the net at all.

It would depend on the brand and model (usually just brand though) of your router... It will only be doable if you have the administrator password for the network/router.

To anyone who uses Outlook/Outlook Express: If I want others in my office to be able to see my appointments on their calendars, I currently email the appointment to my secretary and she accepts and it goes on her calendar. Then she knows she can't book another appointment for me at that time.
Now I may need to send my appointments to someone else but it will be just for information. Can I email my appointments (I do know how to do this part - am doing it already) and have them accepted in such a fashion that they show up on the second person's calendar maybe greyed out or something so it's clear that it's not his appointment but just something I want him to be aware of? Sort of a FYI hads up for him to be aware of.
Thank you for any ideas/advice.

My @telusplanet.net email address was made obsolete by Telus. Not sure why but I had to change it when it stopped working.
I see that some of my contacts who also have @telusplanet.net email addresses are still able to use them. Anyone know about this? Mine stopped working and I had to change it. Why did that not affect everyone with the same address? Will they all have to be changed?

I think you can share your calender. Not 100% sure how to do it, but you have to some how allow others to view the details of your calender. Look in that direction and that should help you out.
