Down 4 is far from over after day one. Obviously it’s a big early lead but wouldn’t take much for the Americans to close within 2 after tomorrow.

It’s not so much the lead it’s that the Europeans have a bunch of guys playing well. They won’t lose playing like this.

There are times watching a Ryder Cup in Europe when you think tv is showing a highlight reel of Europe's best shots of the day by unknown guys, but in fact it's just a live sequence of tem burying long putts, sticking an iron close, chipping in etc...

It’s amazing really. Hovland, Rahm and Rose all make bombs on 18 to tie their match. Maybe Rose’s wasn’t a bomb but still…

The odds are far better that they would have gone 0/3 on those putts vs 3/3. If they had, US is only down 2.

Spieth is playing in the morning foursomes. Interesting choice given how bad he struggled down the stretch, leaving JT on his own. Hard to see those two beating Fleetwood Mc.

Yeah don't get that, JT was basically playing solo down the stretch today. But if you believe Zach Johnson it sounds like they have a bug going around the camp, so maybe Spieth is getting the nod because he's healthiest?
