This happened a few times, and the Nucks were running pick plays on every defensive zone face-off. It would be nice to see some consistency in officiating.

Fair enough, however I highly doubt the team forgets a sucker punch and punching a downed player. Those kind of things don't just go away in 2 days, there's a base respect you have to have. Canucks are such trash that they don't play by the basic codes of conduct and in all likelihood will pay for it at some point.
Engelland's one of the toughest guys in the league, you think he'll just brush off a sucker punch and let the guy get away with it when it's perfectly legal for him to crush the guy if he has the puck?

What they should do is destroy them on the score board with a big lead and then beat them up physically when there's no chance to come back.

I definitely didn't think he deserved the boarding call last night. It was a solid hit. Shoulder to shoulder. A hit we've seen a hundred times in the playoffs so far. The refs seemed to target him cause he was so aggressive all night.

2. The slower, and scrappier the game is, the better chance Calgary has. As they can't compete skill wise with the Canucks in a end to end open game.
3. Ferland is a POS in the best possible way, The flames will need players like him to contend in a few years. Wish he was a Canuck
4. Horvat is going to be a great player, he already is playing shutdown minutes against the Flames best players, and contributing offensively
I can't see the Canucks not winning this series, especially as the Flames top 3 D men tire, and your top 2 centres are hurt.
Overall regardless Calgary wins. As the Flames youngsters will gain valuable experience in a year they were expected to be playing golf by now. Whereas the Canucks veterans will get blasted by who ever they meet in the next round.

lol
How can you be living in Calgary and be that uninformed about their talent level or the style they play.
It is the Nucks that want this series to be scrappy, choppy and physical. The Flames are the smallest, and one of the fastest teams in the NHL. The majority of their scoring comes off the rush. In an end to end track meet, the Flames would skate the Nucks into the ground.
Your statement is pretty much exactly wrong.
However, your final statement is accurate - this series, and this season, is all about experience for the Flames. Playing Vancouver is actually the perfect matchup - their garbage tactics will be an excellent lesson for the Flames on what to expect in the playoffs.

^^ Agreed... if we try playing the chippy, dirty, pesky game that Vancouver plays, we will lose. Thats their game, not our game.
Our game is more about speed, separating the man from the puck (and Ferland does help in doing that with his hard hits), and all styles or systems anyone plays benefits from players creating screens and crashing the net (Bollig, Colborne)... we got to play our game, not get suckered into playing Vancouver's.

Game misconducts are, and every player sitting on one game misconduct for fighting will be automatically suspended if they pick up another for fighting.
We would be total idiots to try playing a dirty/violent game. That's what the Canucks want. Finish your checks, yes, but people need to realize that what they want will cost us this series.
I want to win. I want the focus on scoring goals.

In addition, even if we are up a few goals, its pretty evident the Canucks game plan is to lean on and hammer our D since we are essentially playing 5 D (they are especially hammering Russell, Wideman, Brodie and Engelland too)... even if we're up a few goals, we would be doing a favor to our D to to keep the pressure and physical play off them as much as possible, and in return lean on their D (some board play and physical battles with Ferland, Colborne and Bollig) leaning on Bieksa and Edler who both sound like they are pretty beat up.

I think last night's loss was invaluable to the Flames. The youngsters learned what it took to get into the playoffs, now they're learning what it means to be in a heated playoff series with ups and downs. Guys like Gaudreau and Monahan are discovering first hand what they'll have to fight through to be successful in the playoffs in the NHL. Its a whole new level. I'm confident they'll start getting better as the series goes on, but regardless of outcomes this stuff is great for the Flames future.
It really hurts not to have the leadership of Gio though. Honestly, I think this is the time for a guy like Backlund and Brodie to step up. Guys that have been around a bit, its their team with Gio gone.

I think Flames fans should direct their hatred at the Canucks players and Hughson, but should leave Daddy Lack out of it. It's not his fault that the CBC loves him.
We are better than that.

Vancouver needed that game. It would have been a sweep otherwise. They brought it and dominated all night.
Calgary getting the split was huge. The Dome is going to be absolutely insane tomorrow with the fans being louder than the team has ever heard. I think the top line wakes up tomorrow and we bounce back
