Next to nothing. Anderson was neither of those things last year either or during his time in Columbus and was Montreal's worst defensive forward by a mile in the Playoffs.

If the Flames are adding anyone of significance who is not a rental then Monahan has to be going the other way. I have a hard time seeing a path to keeping Gaudreau and Tkachuk without shedding Monahan’s salary.
Monahan+Dube+Pelletier+2nd
For
Dvorak+Toffoli+Kulak
Not sure about this deal to be honest. It adds 2 guys in the top 6 signed with term for less than 4.5M. Having said that is Dvroak a legit second line C?
Toffoli+Dvroak is cap neutral to Monahan+Dube. Doesn’t help free up money for next year but helps solidify the middle 6.

I don’t see the Canucks trading Garland. Especially to Calgary. He was the only good move they made all off season.

^ I'd be into it. Its now or never with Johnny, Tkachuk and Mangi here and Sutter at the helm.
Toffoli was a factor in their run and has history with Darryl. Bringing him in almost feels destined.
Dvorak would be better than current Monahan and could push Backlund.

Yeah, it starts and ends with a K. Similar to Kulak.
Very interesting.

McCann would be huge, but it's hard to imagine even Francis is dumb enough to let him go at this point. McCann is the youngest legit forward on the roster, and Francis probably needs to focus on moving his UFAs

I think kubalik fits the worst of the options. People were ragging on debrincat and Laine but kubalik is even more shot only than either.
Out of those 4 mentioned McCann is the most interesting/likely imo, but I still think we can find a better fit. I suppose it all depends what Tre is willing to pay. Imo McCann wouldn't cost much.

Regarding Ben Chiarot-it really wouldn't be the end of the world if we aquired this guy, he's a top-4 D all day long. He's not the shiny prize that a Chychrun or Klingberg would be, but he's evolved and rounded out his game to become an excellent shutdown guy, who can ride shotgun with the offensive-minded guys. He's huge, at 6'3" 230lbs, throws his weight around, and moves the puck well. He's capable in the offensive zone, and owns a bomb of a shot. He wins battles in the corner and in front of the net, and is a top shot-blocker. If we pick him up, hopefully he displaces Zadorov and not Kylington-but he's a Sutter player for sure.

I wouldn't mind picking up Kubalik. He's young (26), big (6'2"), can play either wing, and is a very good skater. He has a good arsenal of shots, and he's already scored 30 in a season. Bit raw in the D zone, but Sutter would fix that quick.

Just my opinion, I like Gudbrandson more than Chiarot and wouldn’t be willing to pay the trade price for the latter.
Secondly, Zadorov has been a very pleasant surprise. He has been good.

I agree on Zadorov, just a big fan of OK. I don't necessarily want Chiarot, or want to pay the price to aquire him, I just think people are too down on him.

I've actually liked Zadorov too. Still iffy on EG but I agree that he's better than Chiarot.
If they're getting an insurance D-man from Montreal, I'd prefer Chris Wideman. Strong two-way guy who's very good on the PP.
