AVK is at 3:30 EDT, so yes, you guys get him at 1:30 a.m.
He should be a definite for two medals, hopefully both gold.
Deciding whether I will be crazy enough to set my alarm to get up and watch it live, then go back to bed.

Excluding the 1984 boycott Olympics, this is now the fourth most medals Canada has won at the summer games, with a chance to get to second. So much for the giant disaster people were predicting after the first week.
Code:
1984 Los Angeles 10 18 16 44
1996 Atlanta 3 11 8 22
1992 Barcelona 7 4 7 18
1908 London 3 3 10 16
1928 Amsterdam 4 4 7 15
2008 Beijing 3 7 5 15
1932 Los Angeles 2 5 8 15

Awesome job by Lamaze to get the gold. AVK should get a couple golds tonight and then we could get another 3-4 medals. 19-21 is where we should end up at. Not bad!

Ukraine is going to lose a medal for doping (heptathalon) so CAN might pass them in the end.
I wouldn't hope for any medals in taekwondo - the judging seems completely corrupt.

It would be great to see him get a gold tonight (he has only one race tonight, one tomorrow), but it shouldn't be viewed as a disappointment if he gets the silver in the K1000 tonight: he's got three world championship silvers to go along with an olympic bronze, and no gold in the K1000. I'm sure he's looking to change that, but it's certainly not as automatic as the K500.

No kidding..both in 1996 and 2000 they had chances for team medals and his selfishness and banning knocked out the hopes of all his teammates.
That said, good for him for getting back on the horse, literally and figurativley, and coming through under pressure this week...the horse too, which was once considered too small for jumping.

Did anyone see the 4 x 100 men's relay? Lol we got so lucky. 4/8 teams in heat 1 were disqualified or didn't finish and then a couple more teams in heat 2 were disqualified. Only 10/16 teams finished the relay(US which was the favorite dropped the baton and didn't finish). It was pretty crazy.

Same goes for gymnastics....im not expert by any means, but the crap decisions ive seen in the time ive watched is pretty laughable. oddly enough the chinese athtletes always come out on top....i guess landing on your knees is medal worthy.
Knowing the Chinese, I wouldnt be surprised if they've been paying off judges.

Wresting, Judo and Taekwondo give out a extra bronze for the winner of the repechage.
Boxing just doesn't bother with a 3rd place match cause they dont want their fighters taking more shots to the head

It is widely believed that the Chinese falsified the ages of a couple of their gymnasts.
Quote:
The Times found two online records of official registration lists of Chinese gymnasts that list He’s birthday as Jan. 1, 1994, which would make her 14. A 2007 national registry of Chinese gymnasts — now blocked in China but viewable through Google cache — shows He’s age as “1994.1.1.”
Another registration list that is unblocked, dated Jan. 27, 2006, and regarding an “intercity” competition in Chengdu, China, also lists He’s birthday as Jan. 1, 1994. That date differs by two years from the birth date of Jan. 1, 1992, listed on He’s passport, which was issued Feb. 14, 2008.
|
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/27/sp...7gymnasts.html
And a hacker uncovered documents yesterday showing a gymnast was too young.
Quote:
The blogger first simply tried Google, only to find that an official listing by the Chinese sports administration that had given her age could no longer be accessed. Next he tried the Google cache, only to find that Ms He’s name had been removed.
So then he tried the cache of Chinese search engine Baidu. There, he found that Baidu lists two spreadsheets in Ms He's name, both giving her date of birth as January 1, 1994 – making her 14 years and 220 days old and too young to compete at these Olympics.
