I understand trying to prevent the pass to Kempe, but he is actually not at an angle to do that - he's preventing a pass to a spot a few meters in front of Kempe.

Oilers are gonna be desperate tonight, which means the Wonder Twins will likely be double-shifted right off the hop. I hope the Kings are ready to play.

Ceci done F'ed up there. bit too hard up and left Nurse out to dry. Both defencemen are terrible and overpaid though

Love the Nurse squat. It's his signature move. He does it at least a few times a game. Rarely for a good reason.

Does anyone else think Jay Woodcroft looks a real life version of a Big Boy from the Austin Powers movies?

Almost certainly a bad habit he picked up from his younger days. He's 6'4'', that move was probably quite effective at blocking pucks and players when he was playing against kids.

To me he looks like someone dressed up a bag of milk and squeezed the bottom.
That or a guy spliced with beaver DNA.

Quite a few, if you remember one of their radio stations organized a bonfire at the end of the run for Edmontonians to burn their newly-purchased Flames gear.
I'm happy to say we did not return that favour in 2006.
But let's not even go there. The Oilers are not "on a run". They've made the playoffs as a #2 seed in the Pacific. And lost their first home game.

And on the same line. That is always the Oilers automatic go to when facing adversity.

The best was in ‘06 when the Fan960 declared themselves “the official station of the Carolina Hurricanes”.

Different era, that was the final year of the pre-cap era when small market Canadian teams basically couldn't compete, combined with a brutal Canadian dollar. It was more relatable, in our shared David vs Goliath status. Plus it was the 1st Canadian team in the Final in over a decade which I think got people excited.
I recall going to Shanks South in 2003 during an Oilers vs Stars first round game and quite a few were cheering for the Oilers. They were even turning on the goal light at the bar when they scored. That all went away post-lockout with the more even playing field.

Not sure I'll watch the game tonight, not good for my health. I hate the oilers and their sportsnet hype train so much I become a snarly old man for the entire night. Better I don't watch and just hope Kings are ready for an onslaught of a motivated McDiver. He'll try and do it all himself of course, and refs will fall for the flailing dive every time. Officiating has had a non-stop earful from the garbage oilers organization about promoting Mcdiver since monday, so reffing will be insufferable.

Honestly a lot of Oilers fans in my circle and dealings were actually kind of cheering on the Flames. It was not reciprocated in 2006.

I think a lot of the "Canada's Team" thing was because we were the first in a decade. It happening again the next year? No one gives a ####.

I went to a Flames/Kings game in 21-22 and was in the second row behind the Los Angeles bench. Doughty kept sizing me up and making eye contact. Which was initially weird, but I felt better once I realized if he’s thinking about me, he’s not thinking about beating the Flames.
