So I was the one that called this place "dry". I said that based upon my one and only visit about 5 years ago when I tried to eat the double.
After taking some heat I've decided to go today and get a single and give it a go. I am here now, eating a single with a pouting and a chocolate shake ($14)

Let's start with the chocolate shake. It has a good taste to it. It's rather thin which makes it so it gets warmer quicker. As long as you don't take your time, it's perfect.

Pouting - massive amounts of fries with good seasoning. Layered cheese curds and a gravy that is quite delicious. One of the best poutines found in Calgary.

Single burger - nothing special! Why does everyone like this so much. It's like slapping a pack of ground beef on the grill and putting a piece of lettuce and a small bun on it. It's just too much beef. Their beef to bun ratio is way to high. While the beef wasn't dry, with the thickness of the burger you get several bites that doesn't get mustard and mayo in the mix which makes it bland.

I'd take a donair from A&A's or donair knights over this place any day. I'll stop by for a poutine, I'll skip the burger.

Just my thoughts, don't mind if you disagree.

Ignore the spelling mistakes above. Hard to type on my iPhone and eat a poutine. For some reason the iPhone changes poutine to read pouting

Had the Rocky Special (cheeseburger, fries, and a can of pop for $8) today:

Burger - As advertised, the AAA Alberta Beef is the star of the show. Very substantial piece of beef; about an inch or more of thickness in the middle (couldn't imagine eating a double). Cooked to a perfect well done (which is difficult for something this thick) -- nicely seared on the outside, and moist on the inside. Paired with onions, relish, and mustard, which nicely complement the meat. I usually like ketchup on my burgers so I might add that next time. Bun was adequate and didn't try to steal the spotlight. Grade: A

Fries - Cooked well done to a medium to dark brown with the skins on. Served naked with salt, seasoning salt, and ketchup available. A small tray (considering the $3.00 price tag on the menu), but tasty and not too oily. Certainly not the best I've had (Five Guys Burger and Fries), but it goes well with the burger. Grade: B

Overall - A solid burger and fries that weren't too greasy and didn't leave you feeling gross afterwards. Would definitely go back again, at least for the burger. Grade: A-

Wow this really looks like a place that I really want to head to. I wonder if they pay rent?

Man this is some of the most intense burger reviews I've seen... who knew if you put together a burger joint you'd be subjected to such intricate critique.

This thread rules... why does everyone seem to know this Rocky guy?? Hilarious.. plus I am definitely going to try the cheesesteak at the other place, the cleverly placed advertisements plugged into this thread worked for me.

I've never been there, but at my baseball game the other night one of the guys started talking about his neighbour, Rocky, who runs a burger thing.....

I know this guy isn't a CPer, it was kind of a funny coincidence after reading this thread.

Yep, I'm sure. Your mom was taking care of the other stream.

Okay, we get it. You're a donair guy and not a burger guy. There shouldn't be any pouting about it.

Lol. I was actually going to but forgot. So the woman that took my order was a 40 year old sea turtle. So I'm looking for the hot chick, saw a girl flipping burgers who was skinny and decent looking but I'm not sure if that is who everyone was talking about. Is it re girl with piercings on her face? I thought she was a little cute but not drop dead. My best guess is the girl everyone likes wasn't there today.

That's unpossible!

Now that I've looked at the map of where this is, I may have to check it out next week seeing as it isn't too terrible far from my work. Unless I happpen to pass a donair place along the way.

the hot girl is brunette with blonde streaks.. the other girl is slim, dirty blonde hair, and doesn't have as cute of a face.

So I hear there's a new Burger Bus. Bubba Louies. It's also in the same area as Rocky's. Just curious if anyone has been there and can give us a review on Burger/Fries quality as well as rating on the women that work there. Also any info on hours would be nice. From what I hear it rivals Rocky's.

I'll go there next week. I also just heard about it. Apparently it's actually been around for ages as well, but it closed down a while ago and got reopened with new owners.

Speaking of good burgers - I had lunch at the old hotel in Heritage Park last weekend - and damn - they do up a good burger.

If, for whatever reason, you find yourself at the 'ol Heritage Park - ramble over to the Hotel and give 'er a go.

This thread made me hungry for a burger. I am cheap and lazy to go out so I grabbed some hamburger from the freezer, threw it on the George Foreman grill and put it on an open sandwich of rye with dijon mustard, ketchup, and pickle slices. It was great.

I find the George Foreman grill burgers to be very dry.
