That part is so freaking lame that it's coined a successor phrase to Jump the Shark: Nuke the Fridge.

Oh my goodness. I had no idea Conan wrote the monorail episode but it makes perfect sense. I rank it as the 2nd best episode ever, just behind the "Lisa needs braces"/Power Plant strike episode.
Marge: Oh no, we're too late!
Scientist guy: I shouldn't have stopped for that haircut. Sorry.

That episode is one of the best ever. I could be reading some magazine about some new high speed monorail train in Japan and in the back of my head I start singing monorail....MONORAIL.....MONORAILLLLLLLLL!!!!!

Damn song is gonna be stuck in my head for an hour now.

In the commentary (yes I always watch commentary of shows I have on DVD) Matt Groening says it is one of his fav episodes ever and contains his single favorite moment ever:

	Quote:

		| Marge Simpson: [Marge opens a closet in the momorail] Homer, there's a family of opossums in here! Homer: I call the big one Bitey.
 |
Which I find very strange because that episode has much better moments than that one. Other than the aforementioned Batman sequence it also has:

	Quote:

		| Homer: Are we gonna die son? Bart: Yeah. But at least we'll take a lot of innocent people with us.
 |
	Quote:

		| [Homer and Marge discuss the dangers of a monorail] Marge: What if something goes wrong?
Homer: Pffft... what if. What if I'm taking a shower and I slip on a bar of soap? Oh my god, I'd be killed!
 |
There are more but I don't want to further derail this thread. Also Al Jean said in the commentary it was a first because the Simpsons producers and such said the show could never blatantly deny the laws of reality but then at the end Nimoy gets beamed away.

Why is that bad? The correct response is, "I'd have to see you naked to be able to tell you for sure."

Dunno. Just a major turn off for me when that kind of insecurity presents itself so early. It's not like she's my wife of ten years and has put on an extra 20 pounds after bearing my children.

Another thing that's jumped the shark is Adam Sandler. Happy Gilmore was one of the funniest movies ever, but I haven't enjoyed many of his movies since then. Ditto for Mike Myers and the Austin Powers franchise. First one was pretty funny. Second one was ok, third one had it's moments. And if there's a fourth out there on video shelves, I'll probably never bother even renting it.

Bottom line we knew who 4 of the final five were half a season before we found Earth and almost immediately found out who the fifth was. If want to talk about BSG jumping the shark is should be somewhere around the Episodes following the escape from New Caprica or Starbuck's return and reveal of 4 of Final Five at the end of Season 3.
