My dad passed away in a hospice back in May of liver cancer. While he was in the hospice, I brought in his favourite blue Magnasonic DVD player, along with a couple of his favourite Anita Mui (famous HK pop star who died of cancer a few years back) concert DVDs. Just before he passed away, one of his favourite songs came up. It was Anita's Chinese remake of Faithfully by Journey. I was pretty glad he got to hear that song before he died.

In any case, I don't think I can hear anything from Anita anymore without getting choked up, especially Faithfully. I haven't tried yet, but I may get a similar response watching Rumble in the Bronx or My Father the Hero

Lose Yourself by Eminem. Memories of the warmup at Scotiabank Place prior to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals against New Jersey. All about the possibilities of finally going to the Cup finals. Curse you Bill McCreary and Jeff Friesen.

Black by Pearl Jam. For all the usual, cliched reasons.

Handlebars by Flobots. I literally could not get this song out of my head when I came down with appendicitis.

The Warrior by Scandal. Memories of high school since it seemed like any montage played at an assembly would use this as the background song.

Time to Pretend by MGMT. It reminds me of my happiest memory of this year.

When this song came out, my lifestyle was on a dead end course, to say the least and I knew I had to make some changes and start taking some responsibility. It got worse before it got better but things did change around for me and this song is one that always strikes a chord.

I'm not saying it changed my life but it put in words how i was feeling at the time.
