i've always been a Family Guy fan (AND a South Park fan, imagine that) but i do admit the show has been going downhill since it came back from cancellation. it has it's moments, but so many things seem too forced now to be funny. South Park on the other hand only gets better with each passing season. Matt and Trey seem to be refining their writing to a sharp point where Seth McFarlane seems to be stuck in a rut recycling the same jokes over and over again (there's only so many times i can take the creepy old man). if anything Family Guy needs to cross the line more and shake things up, quit making things so predictable

Oh I like them both too (SP and Family Guy) I just think SP does a little more for you than make you laugh, and I prefer it. I'm not coming down on anyone for liking Family Guy.
Going back to the original topic, after watching a few more episodes again, I don't even think that was one of the worst (in terms of pushing boundaries) jokes FG has ever done. So I can't see it being a huge deal.
I do wish Family Guy would harness some of that shock value for something more than a laugh though sometimes.

I dunno, I love South Park but it's been downright creepy at times this year. The Britney Spears episode springs to mind.

I think it was because most people have done what Peter has done, and the fact it kept going for so long...

You're right, that was awful and borderline unwatchable, but it seemed appropriate. What would have to happen to her that would induce some empathy? They must want her dead, no sense in sugar coating it.

I like Family Guy, I just wish they'd put more effort into the jokes once in a while. Cheap humour like that kind of irritates me (ex: Those Bud Light commercials these NHL playoffs).

I have to say, I enjoy South Park more, but Family Guy certainly has its moments. But it seems too repetitive and formulaic at times. When you can see a joke coming or they bust out the oft mentioned obscure cultural reference it gets tiring fast.
The best thing I can say about FG is that it has its moments.
As for this joke, I dont think its across the line, it might be considered a bit tasteless, but I wouldnt say out of bounds or anything. I also subscribe to the theory that its all fair game or none of it is.
That said, I didnt find it funny either. I wasnt offended or anything, but I didnt get anything out of it. That might be because I wasnt watching it, I havent seen the episode, but just watching that clip didnt make me laugh.

Family Guys is not even close to being as funny as South Park. At all. I like Family Guy too but South Park is absolutely hysterical.

The South Park World of Warcraft episode was AWESOME, very funny and they actually go the game creators in on the episode creation.
The BEST comedy series ever has to be Faulty Towers, followed in a close second by The Black Adder. British comedy is much funnier and far more intelligent than most of what the US produces.

Meh, I don't really see what made it creepy. They did a good job of adapting the end of Shirley Jackson's The Lottery.

The episode was certainly messed up, but I thought it illustrated the idea of society building up celebrities just so they can tear them down quite nicely.

I like how SP does that. They will make an issue so outrageous that it makes every realize how ######ed they are being. Like the episode where they were not allowed to show an image of Mohammed but they could show Dubya and Jesus pewping on the American flag...

The point is moot anyway since Futurama tops both of them. And The Simpsons.

Anyone who says something like that loses all credibility when it comes to TV shows in my mind. Come on man. Say you don't understand why it was so big, I can accept that, but don't say the show was terrible, because it was clearly not.
