also, as painful as it can be. Don't be a prick while waiting at the bar. If you've been there for 20 minutes, and the guy next to you has been there for 30, when the barkeep FINALLY comes over and asks you what you want, point to the person that's been there longer. It's good karma, and I've always had a sigh of relief and a "thanks man" every single time I've done that.
Is there really anything more of a piss off as when you're waiting at the bar, and some person next to you walks right up and gets served before you?

That's odd. I suppose this leads me to two questions:
1) Why is it so rude?
2) when is it officially no longer "After Labour Day"? January 1st?

Drinking G&Ts and wearing white pants have a "season" of between Memorial Day and Labor Day. By in large the observation of this custom is restricted to the gentry.

That is one thing I don't like about the bar. How the hell do you know who took you home, and what they did to you?

Or looking in your wallet the next morning and wondering where the $200 you had in there last night went.

Vodka cranberry is my drink of choice. Many adventurous have been had with a 25cent vodka cranberry in hand at Union Hall in Edmonton.

I don`t know much about the bar life. As others have said, it`s a really expensive and limiting way to explore alcohol. You`ll probably get to a point in your life (maybe a decade from now, maybe sooner) where you`re drinking simply for the pure enjoyment of the flavour. It`s worth it to try a few different brands of the same types of alcohol and forget about finding one you like, just try to find and understand the differences. Scotch is particularly fun, and without much effort you can probably tell what part of Scotland a scotch is from simply by flavour. But the same is true of beer, wine, vodka, gin, and most kinds of liquor. Quality alcohol tends to have a very strong connection to the place it`s from, and in some cases the history of that place.
Of course, this is all on a very different level than simply finding a flavour you like. But for me that connection to a place and a history and a knowledge is a pleasant and important part of the act of drinking.

Don't listen to the "save your money" crowd.
Try drinking and judge for yourself. If drinking with the buddies is fun for you, do it.
When I first started drinking highballs were easier to like then beer. try various highballs and see what you like. Eventually you'll probably love beer and wonder how you ever didn't like it.

FWIW since I'm a girl and all - have you tried cider? Strongbow is pretty nice and it's something you can sit and sip on for a while. If they don't have cider, Grasshopper beer and lime cordial mixed together is yummy - might ease you into beer.

I believe you are suppose to use a lemon with Grasshopper. I had some Strongbow at our communities annual summer solstice. It was the same price as regular beer, but a bigger can with a higher percentage. Needless to say I had my fair share.

don't know what a crispy crunch is... but bottle caps, gladiators and liquid cocaines will go nicely with your porn star.
