I just love the fact that this year's version is never really out of any game.....lots of power and a nice blend of hitting from top to bottom. Not many weak spots in the order, especially if a guy like Hill gets back to his form of last year.

Very fun team to watch.

Its looking like my wife and I are are going to be able to catch a Jays game this summer in Seattle. It'll be her first major league game, my first time at Safeco. Haven't really been following the M's but I am excited to see this year's edition of the Jays. Might even catch a couple games ... we'll see.

And what a series for the Jays. If they can work their way through this rough patch with their pitching, they should have a great summer.

Safeco is a very nice park, and with the Mariners being in a bit of a downturn, you wont have to worry about paying a scalper $80 to see Suzuki play.

If you want to save yourself a ton of time and money, Park at the Tukwila Park and Ride and take a bus up to Safeco. Much better than $20 to park and the pre- and post-game traffic jams.

Nice to see the kid get another win. The bats really helped him today. And has Hinske found a home in the field? That play he made in the first was great, and that homer to the opposite field was pretty nice, even if it did just squeek over the padding.

In other Jays news, the score is reporting they are interested in the Angels 2B Adam Kennedy.

Thanks for the pointers, we'll be sure to keep them in mind, because leaving a baseball game by car has to be one of the most frustrating things in the world. For me, at least.

With the Calgary/Mariners connection and of course the chance to see the Jays, I was thrilled when I read the schedule.

Adam Kennedy strikes me as a bit of an odd one for the Jays to be interested in. They seem to have some good depth in pitching, at least on first inspection, so I almost wonder if they might go for Zito or even (gasp) Willis if they're still in the thick of things in a while ...

Looks like Josh Towers will be headed for Syracuse soon -- he cleared waivers last week, and proceeded to give up 4 runs before being pulled in the 2nd inning tonight. Chacin will come off the DL this weekend and Towers should be the guy demoted to make room for him, especially since Ty Taubenheim looked decent in his debut.

Good riddence!

How did he have such a solid season last year, to being pretty much horrid this season?

Is it just confidence? Is something wrong with his delivery? A bit of both?

Just strange how poor he's been this season.

One would have to conclude that last year was a fluke. His stuff isn't that good nor are his career numbers. Too bad because he was a great story last year. But man this year - sucks huge.

Jays coming back in this one.

Yup, you hit the nail on right squarely on the head there.

Take a look at his career #s: http://tsn.ca/mlb/teams/players/bio/...=mlb-blue_jays

And even in his "good" year, look at his stats - that's a lot of hits to be giving up there...anywho, surprised that JP gave him the deal he did. Oh well.

go Jays Go!

And, as an aside, the Mets get Orlando Hernandez from the Dbacks for Julio:

Cheers!

Bad night for Jays pitching......10-7 now for the Rays in the bottom of the ninth.

What a night for Carl Crawford, though:

5-for-5, 5 runs scored, HR, 2 RBI, 4 stolen bases.

Unreal night for him.

Towers and Russ Adams have both been sent down to AAA.

No word yet on who their replacements will be.

Source: Mike Wilner fan590.

There was a rumor floating about earlier this week that the Angels would send Adam Kennedy to the Jays for Shea Hillenbrand + a bit of cash to even the contracts ~ 1 million. This would move Aaron Hill back to his natural Short stop position (which he plays extremely well).

Yeah, you wonder if something might be up on the trade front.

I like Adams, but he's really struggled defensively.

Don't know much about Kennedy.......what kind of player is he?

Pretty much Russ Adam's upside.

He is left handed, like Russ, has a very steady glove at 2B (doesn't hit left handed pitching well at all, but is good hitter vs. RHP, something which we really need on the team).

He wont put up big offensive numbers, but he does provide decent offense for his position. He wont be a big hole in the lineup either like MacDonald is.

According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports the Jays are on the verge of signing veteran infielder Edgardo Alfonzo. They would play him at 2nd and move Aaron Hill over to short.

If Towers were 4-5 instead of 1-8, the Jays would be 1st in the division.

I was hoping that one win where he looked so good would give him some confidence.

Maybe going down for a bit will help him the way it did Doc in 2001

I don't mind signing Alfonzo for depth, but I'm awfully skeptical of him playing 2nd base. He's hasn't played there since 2001 (almost exclusively a 3rd baseman since) and hasn't been a strong fielder his whole career. Furthermore, he just doesn't have ANY power in his swing anymore... it was evident last season and very obvious this year with Anaheim (5 hits in 50 AB, with 1 RBI and 1 run scored).

I think he's a decent option to have playing in Syracuse, but he's not the answer to the middle infield problem.
