Regarding Shaw extreme in case anyone is interested:

I just moved up to edmonton (I know, I know) and had to look into getting internet up here...I had shaw down in calgary and had before gotten emails about bandwidth and upload/download amounts...

Here in edmonton I talked at length with one of the shaw tech guys and he said that there is usually about a 50 gb internet traffic allowance (upload+download) included in regular shaw, and that with extreme they merely upped that figure to 60gb. Extreme is supposedly about 2x faster than the average regular cable as well.

60gb/month limit...I've heard stories of people uploading 100+gb a month with both telus and shaw without getting warnings but just can't seem to be able to do it myself (uploaded 100+ one month and then they threatened to close my account).

No problems, if you have any other question I highly suggest singing up for their forums. There is probably going to be alot of files that you aren't familiar with and going to the [MOD EDIT: Removed reference to illegal software download site]forums and doing a search to help you is does wonders.
