100% agree with Zayne. My biggest pet peeve of the season was them not trying him out as PP1 in preseason given the amount of evidence we have with the current d-core on the powerplay. That and Gridin being sent down on a short leash. However, I don't mind him getting first line deployment in the AHL.
I agree that Zary does not deserve opportunity but after his promising rookie season, and given the circumstances, it would be nice to haven given him a longer leash in a consistent spot before blending lines over and over. I can look past line juggling to win now in the first quarter of the season because of last year but if this happens well into the year then this would be inexcusable. When we are out of it; the focus needs to be on developing players rather than winning.

Sure there would. If they don't have anyone on LTIR, they can accumulate cap space towards the deadline. In fact, the sooner the move him, the more cap they can accumulate.
Carey Price is on LTIR for the season and playoffs, too. I was answering a poster who asked if there were any other similar contracts the Flames might grab.

The rules have changed...Vegas has declared him out for the season and playoffs. They eligible for full relief on his $8.8 million cap hit, there is no reason for Vegas to pay the Flames to take the hit. Montreal needed to be cap compliant first in order to put Price on LTIR because of performance bonuses on their roster, Vegas was and is already good there.
