Pretty crazy that a drone couldn't find him. I know that thermal imaging has been utilized for lost dogs to pretty good results, you'd think a heat signature out there would stand out pretty significantly (I guess while heat still existed in him).
I was curious about this, and found this video. I'm not sure you would see much of a heat signature after looking at it. From the sounds of it, the forest was dense, more so than this video. At, say, 50 seconds where you can still sorta see it(so line of sight available) it's only a little spot, for a large naked animal. You imagine a child with cloths on, and the thermal size is going to be pretty small.
I'm not suggesting it wouldn't be possible or helpful, but not near a sure thing either.

The Following User Says Thank You to Fuzz For This Useful Post:
I heard an update that the 5 year old went out to an island just a few 100 meters away from the campsite with 2 older kids, then those 2 older kids abandoned him and left him on that island and came back to camp (not sure if siblings?)
Essentially, parents left the younger one with the 2 older kids assuming they would all be together and then the young one never returned, just so so very sad.
It sounds more like the two older kids turned around and the boy was missing when they turned back. "Abandoned" makes it seem like they just left him there.
Anyways, I can't even imagine what this family is going through, with two tragedies so close together. Statistically speaking, the odds of any one would be extremely low, the odds of dealing with two in a short time span must be in the hundreds of millions.
