Valimaki had upside prior to his knee injury during training. That set him back and he never recovered IMO.

I think Bean has actually been pretty good when healthy.

Even Utah cant find a use for Valimaki.

Hyvästi Valimaki.

Nah, he was never any good to begin with

Injuries only slow you down but it’s been years

People just can’t let go but it’s pretty obvious he can’t play

What do you mean he was never any good? He was tracking very well as a prospect prior to the injury.

Plenty of good looking prospects never made it

Also I don’t remember him being any good except may be a dozen games when he first showed up all hyped

Plenty of good looking prospects never make it, but can you outline how you are accounting for the impacts of the injury that really harmed his overall mobility?

He had 14 points in 20 games in his first year of pro in the AHL.
He was tracking very well.

Injuries and covid derailed his career here. He lost his confidence and kept making mistakes when he got chances, and it doesn't help that Sutter was trying to win now and was really hard on him.

If you believe what Maloney says the deal was done, I guess the extension was the reason it fell apart.

Heavy price for a rental, if he had another year on his deal like Toffoli did I would have made the deal.

It was in jest to begin with. But could be fun to look at.

The 1st that year was Pelletier.

Kylington walked and now is an extra D who probably passes through waivers.

Does Stone get them past the Avs that spring? Unlikely. Probably makes it a longer series through.

Maybe he changes his tune after arriving and Brad wines and dines him to an extension.

Hard to say, but yeah I think he at least gets us to a game 7. We had 1-0 lead and a chance to go up 2-0 when Forlik shot the puck into the glove. Another OT game when James Neal casually saktes by. You probably don't have those defensive mistakes with Stone.

Stone with Backlund and Tkachuk would have been something.

I always have heard the Flames in the end met Ottawa's ask contingent on coming to terms with Stone.

Stone wanted $10M and the Flames didn't think they could do it within their cap structure with Tkachuk as a pending RFA (probably not wrong about that).

In the end the real problem was signing Neal 6 months earlier - Flames under Trevliving never having the foresight to keep some cap space open for in-season moves was a big part of his failures here. Always had to spend to the cap right away in the first week of July.

Pretty sure they said Stone was only going to extend with Vegas.

Missing on Stone is probably why he was aggressive with Toffoli and getting it done early.
