The list us so devoid of context or history. It's why you don't generate lists like this from the understanding of millennials or gen-zers. Jesus, you get the right people on the panel and David Jones is going to make the list.

Orr played the game in a way no one before him did. And no one since IMO.
So I’d have him ahead of Mario.

Yes, noted millennials on the Athletic's panel include Eric Duhatschek and Ian Mendes. And up-and-coming Gen Z writer Michael Russo.

When you draft high, you have a greater chance of having these talents. And, you're right, also a lot of luck hitting big like this on them.

The last bit of speculation is over as Orr is named #3 and Lemieux #2.
I think I'm going to go ahead and agree. Both guys absolutely dominant in their position, with Orr being the most dominant at his position. Although both guys suffered injury, Orr only has 657GP and Lemieux basically has 40% more games played, at 915. So I give the edge to Mario for the #2 all time debate.

A 35 year old Mario put up 76 points in only 43 games after 3.5 years of retirement in the middle of the dead puck era, simply incredible.
