Just blown away that Big D is our coach again, last year was such a treat and it will be hard to top in a lot of ways but with Sutter at the helm and new high end pieces for him to work with, I’m some how more excited going into a new season than ever. What a remarkable off-season this has been, goes down as one of the craziest for any team in the history of the nhl.
I take it that Darry must have some help there running that farm. He must have also bought that at some point, I don’t think he’s the oldest brother and maybe they’re all still involved but I kinda doubt that. Good for them for able to keep it in their family as that’s not always the case.
It’s nice land for sure and I think land all over is expensive now.
Was driving up that way earlier this week on my way back from Saskatoon to BC, but it was 30 min out of my way and I just couldn't make it there to say hi to Darryl....(as if!).
And it is gorgeous country - some of the most spectacular in Alberta. Love the way he talked about how the boys all learned to work as a team to get the jobs done. Brilliant!

He mentioned Sutters have been in Alberta for 6 generations. Not that he couldn't afford that land even at today's prices but I'd guess most of that land has been in the family for decades.
As per capfriendly, he's been an NHL head coach for 25 years , a general manager for 7 years and played for 8 years in the league. He has a few bucks in the bank.
Still awesome that he lives and works on the land and promised his dad it would always be in the Sutter name. Quite a legacy.

Yeah he would need someone to do almost all of the work while he's coaching. 450 head of cattle and 3000 acres is too much work for one guy even if he is farming full time.
Sutter would be gone all winter when the cows need to be fed and calved out. Probably miss most, if not all of planting season. He would be around for baling. Mentioned he is there for weaning and harvest, but depending on weather he would likely miss at least some of grain harvesting season as well.
His land is probably worth like $12-15 million.
I have a cousin who played NCAA hockey. He attended a couple of events at the Sutter ranch and raved about how great a guy Darryl was.
That concludes my random thoughts.
