What other Centre got awarded for an insanely good year where he put up 1.23 ppg when in his previous 10 years in the league he carried a .64 ppg rate over 668 games? His best year prior to his big contract year being 2012-13 where he got 44 pts in 48 games...
He must just be hitting his stride as he turns 32.

Kadri is not getting paid the going rate for a +1.0 pts/GP centre.
But more to the point, why in the hell are you introducing him into this discussion here?

Yeah, he is and has been for the last 3 seasons. At his salary, he doesn't need to be 1.0ppg or better player either. If he can flirt with 70 points while bringing a hole lot of grit and fight to this team, it is more than enough to justify his deal.
Years 5,6,7 may be an adventure, but who knows how he will age and there are always ways to turf bad contracts if need be.

I'm thinking if that post comes from literally anyone else, your level off pissy is nonexistent. You probably don't even reply

His point 100% still stands.
We all know what Ricardo's intentions are with every post. Shouldn't give him the time if day but sometimes people can't help but stomp on his trolling idiocy when they can

3pts in first 7gp this year.
9 pts in last 2 games.
Will be interesting to see how this pans out.

Limited views, but he looks like a great player.
Rare combo of speed, size and skill. I suspect this signing will be a bargain for much of its term if not all.
Happy for the Sabres.

The O'Reilly trade actually looks pretty good now if he keeps it up.

I like it the day it was signed looking even better now. Elite shot too.
Necas was another player that was highly debated that I really wanted. He’s off to a great start too

It's why we're fans and not NHL GMs, talent scouts, etc! No shame in wrong predictions as we're just fans.

Tage looked amazing when the Sabres played here a few weeks back. Might have been the best player on the ice that game. Contract looking like a steal.

Most NHL GMs are actually pretty bad at their jobs IMO. Finding an elite GM is more difficult than finding an elite QB in the NFL
You could do a better job than 80% of NHL GMs just by never making moves outside of the draft, re-signing your own guys and waiting two weeks after UFA starts before spending money

One of my rules in life:
When someone says a job they've never done is easy, and all you have to do is X, I know never to listen to that person on any subject.
Bonus points if they say, ‘How hard could it be?’ Too bad, TF, you missed the trifecta.

Assuming this is aimed at me
The implication is clear that it must be an incredibly difficult job considering how few good GMs there are
Not sure you're aiming that at me though
Besides you can really only get one of those jobs through cronyism so finding impartial opinions by those who have done the job would be a monumental undertaking

Nice try. You just made a post saying how easy it would be to do the job better than most of the people who are doing it now. You also clearly stated that most of the existing GMs aren't able to do even that.
Lord knows there have been some GMs who should never have been allowed near an NHL front office – usually ex-players. But that doesn't mean that some yobbo off the Internet could do better by following a 35-word instruction manual.

It can be both things
Maybe they would find better candidates if they looked beyond the old boys network?
Most times GMs are their own worst enemies
If you disagree with that, maybe we are watching different sports?

They have done that already, and results have been mixed, at best.

No, it really can't. You're saying that the NHL does such a bad job of hiring GMs that they would do better hiring completely unqualified people off the street.
