I think Monahan and Gaudreau need to be split up to try and get them going. I love Sutter, but I'm baffled as to why he stubbornly keeps that line together.

But overall, at 5v5, the Flames played pretty good against Edmonton. Even Sutter said so himself.
Tonight, the Flames got dominated at 5v5.
Very interested to hear what Sutter has to say after this game, because a game like today is not the way he likes to play at all.

Well, the Leafs are an actual real hockey team and a good one. It's a tough out for anybody. Flames scrapped one out. They need these kind of wins. Not sure everyone got the memo but we aren't going to be in for pretty hockey. And we all knew Sutter had his work cut put for him to fix this team. Just enjoy the 2 points being hyper critical at this juncture is just wasteful energy.

Important win. Important to bounce back from that loss and get some momentum back.
Markstrom made the saves to preserve the the 4-3 lead, and on a pretty rough night for him it’s still good to see him help us hang on for the win.
|
Backlund picked up as the game went along. And Tanev was Tanev.

Backlund and Giordano were both good.

Never complain about winning! Winning is great, don't question how it happened. If there are a million ways this game could have gone, and the Flames found one that leads to a win, it's all good.
That said, GDI Monahan, score! Imagine if Monahan was scoring now like he did in the past. I'd love to see that Flames team.
Not that I'm complaining....

Scoring Winger

Buckled down defensively as the game went on, but definitely not the way we want to play. Burn the tape and move on.
Gaudreau-Monahan-Ritchie got absolutely demolished at 5v5, and Tkachuk-Lindholm-Dube managed to score 2 goals on zero scoring chances. Bottom 6 was roughly break-even.

We won so I don't care how they did it. They needed 2 points and they got it.

9 of them already. They honestly shouldn't even be in the race.

Toronto is going through a rough patch and brought some desperation to the game. They weren't going to roll over.
Great win. Come out tomorrow and keep the pressure in them.

Tkachuk’s scruff grab of Holl down to the ice was a tad dangerous.

Me too. Except he keeps getting injured.
Hopefully he plays well tomorrow and the Leafs go with him for a bit. I want the Leafs to trade for another goalie and get rid of Andersen. He's done and anyone would be better than him.

No. We got the crap option, unfortunately. Hrudey was given the night off for some reason.
