That was one of the craziest games I've ever watched. Really impressed with the heart and determination shown by this team when the game looked like it was out of reach. Flames were the better team all night, despite Smith letting in a few stinkers.

If we can get our goaltending sorted out, this team could do some serious damage this year.

I'm happy the boys got the W for Smith, but holy crap, he was awful and just doesn't look confident. Really hope Rittich starts the next game.

Stop starting him period.

Two things sparked this win. A great and needed fight for Bennett. A great offensive zone hit by Valamaki. That's real hockey folks!

The one thing about this team that proves it's different from the GG's team, it doesn't quit. It has heart. They had to gut that win out completely, despite being against all odds, and no one being surprised if they mailed it in.

These are the types that can set the tone for the season.

The last game against Colorado turned after a huge Bennett hit and the team responded again to more physicality from Benzo. He's not scoring but he is contributing positively.

Also, the Flames have shut down the best line in the line for 110 of the 120 minutes they've played against them this year. That is very encouraging.

Ball said Gio scored the winner. He didn't. That honour goes to Frolik.

ETA: he just corrected himself. I really like Ball.

It was past midnight, I said to myself "with the power play to start the 3rd I'll see what happens. If we score I'll stay up a bit longer."

When we tied it I thought, "well looks like overtime"

Then we were up by two and I thought "let's see this out"

Then the Avs scored and I thought "I'd challenge that just because of how little time is left, rest my best defensive guys, off chance its waived off but I think it should count"

Then the referee said the outcome of the challenge and I thought "There is no interference is an odd way to announce the call, it was set up to say there is no goal, but whatever."

Now the game is over and I'm thinking "Can't wait for the ATL"

Bennett needs big time credit in this game. Great game for him, and his fight showed so much emotion at home that we missed last year. He turned the tides tonight.
