To those suggesting this is a player led decision, I would seriously question a bunch of millennials calling for a video game ban to bring a team together. Video games can be a very social thing, especially a team multiplayer game like fort nite. This sounds more like a dim Jim thing to me

Unless they have every waking moment scheduled, it's nice to have something to do in the gaps. And having every waking moment scheduled is exhausting. Granted, that thing doesn't have to be video games, but it has to exist.

Sure. But it's not fortnite creating a lack of self discipline and self-care. If you "ban" an otherwise acceptable behavior they should be very worried about what activity will replace it.

Maybe I'm showing my age, but I have no idea what Fortnite is....
If it's affecting teams performance, understandable that they would ban it. It's common for teenagers and men in their early twenty's to have late nights in their rooms playing video games and being tired the next day. They impose curfew, but it doesn't do much good if guys are in their rooms playing video games all night.
Obviously it's not being banned because normal hours are being respected, or for the headlines.

How do they enforce this when the players are at home on their own?

They don't, since this is just something that applies for road trips

Yeah, but that is only used in extreme cases. Didn't he get busted at the border? For the most part, drug use is swept under the rug until a player has been in rehab several times. In fact, I believe it is mandated to keep such things private.
There are so many rumours about the rampant cocaine in the NHL. Though it is not just the NHL, it is rampant in that age group in general. I'm old enough (41) that in my 20's and 30's cocaine was looked at as a serious and harmful drug. I play ball with enough people that are a half a generation younger to now that cocaine is as casual as weed and booze to them.

Laine went on to say that the players amongst the #NHLJets have agreed that if they start playing like that (Vancouver) they will stop taking their Playstations on the road.

It was a specific player who initiated the ban. The rest have followed. Players are more annoyed it went public rather than the ban. Some are more annoyed the places they are now going to have more chances to get into mischief than sitting in a hotel playing a game.

I'm sure there are plenty a player who are mixing beers and bumps with their fortnite all nighters. Just because they aren't out at the club doesn't mean they aren't getting into substances.

It appears this banning video games thing may not fly with every roster.
