I'm surprised they counted it as he was skating backwards although never stopped so maybe that's why they let it go.

Especially when Minny celebrates like it was some massive triumph. They literally defended to a win. Flames were better in the 1st, 3rd and OT, where they should've won multiple times. And the 2nd was just even.

So yeah, feels pretty dumb on these sorts of nights.

What change would you make? The puck never stopped moving forward.

I can't see 3 on 3 overtime ever lasting 15 minutes. That's about how long it takes for 3 shots a side in the shootout. It doesn't even make sense as an effort to save time. And that's the whole point of it.

Thought Janko and Bennett struggled a bit in the OT, trying to play dump and chase in the offensive zone when in clear possession of the puck. They'll find their legs soon though.

They had their chances but just one of those games. They deserved two but one will have to do.

However, what's problematic is not just the PP (granted was better tonight) but as someone posted, GG stating point shots don't work in the NHL. This ideological belief seems to be the reason why they stick to their guns.

On one hand I can appreciate this, it was a top 10 PP last year and you don't panic and change things at the drop of a hat. However this year seems different (not just no Versteeg) .

It seems there is a lack of quality chances the PP is generating. PP2 needs to figure out a zone entry and fast. Gio has made a career of getting wristers through from the point and the team needs that.

Can't be too upset, played a good game just couldn't cash.

It's not about the player. It is about the puck.

I thought it was creative and fine, he was still moving. I remember a few years ago when Selanne was still playing for the Ducks and he came in and completely stopped and then fired it top shelf and it counted but by rule it should not have.

4th consecutive game allowing 2 goals, record in those 4 games is 2-0-2 and really could easily have been 4-0-0. Continue to play this kind of defense and the Flames will be competing for the division lead.

When treliving was asked at the beginning of the season what keeps him up at night. He said "goal scoring, where are the goals gonna come from?"

Not a lot of finishers on this team. I'd love to add Evander Kane. Somebody has to put the damn puck in the net. We play 2-1 games every night. That's gonna take a toll on these guys.

Man Ferland is going to think about that open net for a while. Not sure why he felt he had to lift the puck there.

Another thing hurting the Flames but going unnoticed is that for quite awhile now offence from the blueline has really dried up. Could use the odd goal from Gio, Brodie, and Dougie in particular.

I thought it was the opposite. The puck can be pulled back as long as the player maintains forward momentum towards the goal line.

Doesn't matter what the player does, as long as the puck has forward moving, it's a good goal.

10 minutes or a tie. There would be very few ties.

Except with Minny, they'd rack em up.

The inability of this team to create a lethal powerplay with Monahan, Gaudreau, Giordano, and Hamilton is really frustrating. There have been so many opportunities these last few games were we could have finished a team off and made it easy for ourselves. Instead, powerplays have done more to kill momentum than anything.
