This league is making an absolute mockery of the sport, it's embarrassing. Thankfully I'm streaming this #### online and don't have to pay

I still don't understand how you can say that skate was off the ice conclusively.
Just a BS call, followed by a BS 5-3 and Nashville never recovered

Oh hey, the Jays are up 13-1. Might watch that instead of this BS.

I like the Pens, but that off-side call leaves a unpleasant lingering taste that is affecting everything else in the game since.

I still don't see how that disallowed goal was offiside. Can you not skate your entire body backwards over the line and bring the puck in after and not get called offside? If so, then how is it offside when you receive the pass on your stick on the blue line, not over it but on it, and be called offside? The lifted leg should be irrelevant and the point at which the puck is received should be the focus of the dispute. So pissed >.<

Maybe on the Daley dive, but James Neal is not a smart hockey player. What the hell is he doing there?
How the interference on 87 is let go is baffling to me. Terrible.

Yup, and I can't believe I'm wasting bandwidth on this farce. I mean at least the CBC feed is in HD, but still.....

Just absolute garbage calls from the command center - WTF are those idiots smoking in there? They have to get rid of that stupid challenge IMO. If its that close, leave it to the ref. Besides, it really has no bearing on the actual goal scoring play. I had to turn the game off - I'm so disgusted.

Is NBC also acknowledging the poor calls in this game so far?

How disappointing and maddening to witness this ref controlled beginning of the SCF. What a way to take away the spirit of the game.

No.
Offside was "razor thin"
Both penalties "were obvious"
Crosby's pick was "continuation"

I couldn't tell on my 55" TV that his foot was off the ice. I have no idea how the ref saw it on a little iPad. What a terrible call.
I don't get all the complaining on Crosby's non-call, though. He had the puck and he ran a guy that was trying to take it away. If that's supposed to be a penalty I don't understand.

People are arguing it's an illegal pick, interference. Neither had the puck, that's a penalty.

As I sit here all pissed off I wonder why I even watch...It's 20 degrees outside and I am in here pissed off about a team I don't even care about getting screwed over. I'm over it all together. Video review is ruining the game. With the Flames this year I couldn't even enjoy the excitement of a goal...it was just nervousness until the puck was dropped and then relief. It's not even fun anymore. Stanley Cup Finals and this die hard hockey fan has turned off the TV.

Unfortunately, that's the way the rule is written.
Quote:
The position of the player’s skates and not that of his stick shall be the determining factor in all instances in deciding an off-side. A player is off-side when both skates are completely over the leading edge of the blue line involved in the play.
A player is on-side when either of his skates are in contact with, or on his own side of the line, at the instant the puck completely crosses the leading edge of the blue line regardless of the position of his stick.
However, a player actually controlling the puck who shall cross the line ahead of the puck shall not be considered “off-side,” provided he had possession and control of the puck prior to his skates crossing the blue line.
|
If the player's trailing skate is no longer in contact with the ice, even if it's clearly in an on-side position, the player is still considered to be fully in the zone.
It's a poorly-written rule that didn't matter until they started making it something that could overturn a goal well after the fact.
