For those of us without a subscription - what's the summary? Concussion related injury?

It was basically how he got a concussion during practice I think, correct me if I'm wrong. But to make a long story short, right after the hit, his wife noticed some changes, and within a short time he became very sick. Barely able to talk, couldn't sleep, ended up in the hospital and Dr's didn't know what was going on. Seemed something like a manic phase and he was in severely rough shape.
I think the Psychiatrist eventually thought the hit, which was mentioned in the article as not too serious, ended up flooding old pent up emotions from his childhood. He recovered and was doing a lot better.
Maybe someone else can fill some ppl in, I'm too busy right now.
But I really hope he gets through this. After reading that story yesterday fresh in my mind, then seeing this, it sounds pretty scary. But I really hope he gets the help, and this isn't as serious as it sounds.
Thoughts are with the Okposo family.

That Phaneuf hit in the pre-season was unforgettable. I thought we got Scott Stevens 2.0.

I was at that game. What an atmosphere it was after that hit...followed by grim silence when Okposo never got up and then the medics came out. Dead silence for a while. I also believe that's the game Fleury scored the shootout winner.

Although it was a preseason game, that was one of the best games I've ever attended. I've boughten every Flames vs Isles tickets for the past 9 seasons because of that game.

I was at that game too. I remember his helmet popping off and the crowd going nuts. Then when we saw him lay on the ice, I felt really bad cheering the hit initially.

You can download the app and read it for free. It's a very worthwhile read.

My view on hockey has changed immensely from these stories. I too cheered when Phaneuf crushed him. But now i get sick to my stomach when i see a guy down like that....especially when their right arm kind of goes in the air. Tell tail sign its a concussion.

The article touches on some awful experience earlier in his life that his sister also experienced it appears. They won't divulge.

I count 7 crossovers into that hit. Brutal charge, just not the normal way you see it.
