1. Miikka Kiprusoff - A close race between him and #2, but Miikka was more consistent than him, and was more the reason that the team was good. Kipper carried his team far more often than....
2. Mike Vernon - My favourite goalie growing up, met him a lot when I was kid, always a nice guy. I just can't shake the memories of him letting in soft goals and causing some losses, despite all of the games that I know he won for the Flames. I also love that he beat up Hot Dog Patty!
3. Martin Brodeur - The best goalie I have ever seen. Over Roy, Tretiak, Fuhr (lol), Hasek (imo)...
Others in consideration:
Kari Takko - I loved the name and he must have a had a few great games when I saw him. I also remember one hockey card I had of him going down into the butterfly, but making the catch above his head.
Doug Dadswell - I remember a young zukes thinking he was the goalie of the future and being upset when we traded for Rick Wamsley. I believe that he is also the reason that there are water bottles on the back of the net as he would routinely lose 10-12 pounds a game. Funny that he played 25 games in the NHL the season that they added Wamsley, then he was sent down when Wamsley got to Calgary and never again saw the NHL. Shows you that young zukes was not a goalie scout.
Pelle Lindburgh - One of the best goalies I remember seeing, tragic (stupid) ending to a promising career.
