Johnson has been throwing ugly rebounds like crazy. I still like him, especially as a back-up, but his play is definitely returning to normal. Elliott has bided his time, and I expect his chance is coming before Christmas.

Is that clear? Kipper would play multiple average games in a row. The fact that he hasn't been all world for two games now does not mean the ride is over. It could mean that, but we need more time to see. Expecting him to be lights out with no reprise, or not expecting him to throw in some average games just isn't reasonable for any starting goalie.

That said, thus is the nice thing about the Flames spot. The door has cracked open fir Elliott now, lets see if he kicks it down.

Johnson should still be considered the starter.
He hasn't been very good the past few games and seeing this team isn't committed to either goaltender past this season the starting position is likely going to be a week to week proposition. I understand giving Johnson another opportunity after the Lightning game but that's two bad performances in a row and Elliot will likely now get his chance to tale the ball and run with it.

This is Elliott's chance to take back the net. Pride aside he's got millions of dollars riding on this season.

I think the streak started when the Flames were playing snarly and aggressive hockey. I think as whole the team slid away from that identity and seem to be playing a lot more casual. It's not all on Johnson, I think the team needs to get back to what makes them tough to play against for a full 60 minutes.

Too bad he let out that ugly rebound on his first shot in relief and immediately let in the resultant second. Didn't do himself any favours in inspiring confidence.

(I think he is a fine goalie, just didn't help himself there)

I'll hold judgement till its a start and not mop up duty, better step up quick however as he's been hot garbage thus far.

Elliot knows he has a multi million $ contract on the line. The next game will be the most important of his career (financial wise)
