I'm surprised he can't get a one way with another club. He would be a regular in Edmonton and Vancouver for sure.

I think he wants to play for an actual NHL team.

I know. Oilers and Nucks. What a joke right. But seriously if not the Flames there's gotta be a team that will offer him an NHL deal.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or ironic. Either way, it's awesome. Would've also accepted: "Nakladal: The bottom pairing D we need, but not the one we deserve"

A bit player. A fan of his play, but not dissimilar to a David Schlemko. Folks root for the plucky outsider.
He'll likely line up a gig back home with stories to tell.

If you believe in the advanced stats, Nakladl is quite good. Albeit in a small sample size.

Nakladal didn't look good on that Crosby goal. Late reacting to Crosby coming around...
 EDIT: Oops, wrong thread, sorta...

Shlemko proved to be a very good defenseman once given a shot. Certainly better than our current bottom 3

And on his fifth team in five years. The ultimate journeyman bit player.

Still better than Engelland, Smid or Jokipakka imo. He's probably better than Wideman or Russell at this point too.

That a journeyman depth guy is better than our bottom 4-7 last year says more about them than Schlemko.

It depends what you're looking for. I think they would make a good bottom pairing, because their skill sets are so different. I think they are both pretty replaceable but in terms of pure hockey skill, Schlemko wins hands down, I'm not sure it's even a debate. However, Engelland does bring certain intangibles that make him more valuable to the Flames right now, given the composition of the rest of the team. Schlemko is still a better player though, just my opinion.

I think someone will pick him up after the tournament. I don't think it will be the Flames because we will have a tough time moving dead-weight contracts out. Thankfully most expire this year and shouldn't be much of a problem going forward. Missing out on a 29 year old meh defenseman isn't the worst thing that could happen.
