Any chance the Flames are on his list? The Flames have top 6 spots available.

Doubt it. The list is short. Buffalo, Boston, Toronto and New York imo.

No idea who this kid is but just by looking at his photos on Google he looks like a d-bag. No thanks.

This would be the guy for me! I know it isn't that likely but man would he round out our top 6 nicely!

I think he'll tell you he's the guy to round out the top 6 and his agents have a bunch of media types saying the same thing, but put me in the "prove it" category on this guy.

He wants to take next 6 weeks to assess rosters across league, then decide. My gut: team w/in easy reach from BOS.

Oie. I hate pre-judging someone, but this is not coming across well....

We are probably the best fit for this kid from a roster perspective, 1st line RW would be his for the taking. Gaudreau would turn him into a 30 goal scorer in his rookie year.

I don't see him having interest in Calgary. If we were in the east we would be much more appealing to him.

Rights of Jimmy Vesey to Buffalo for a 2016 3rd (76th OA)
It's his right to choose his destination, still this is coming off badly. Is it wrong to hope he Erixons?

I agree. Our roster is perfect for him but location is not so we are likely out. If I were in his shoes, I would pick the best roster fit over location. Plenty of time to play for your hometown after you've established yourself by age 27, but everyone has different priorities.

I'm not sure why it comes off badly to you.
Wouldn't you do the same if you were in his position? I sure would.

What was the last one of these situations that worked out for the player? Dany DeKeyser?
Schultz didn't work out so well.
Hayes has been underwhelming in New York.
Am I missing anyone?

Yeah, I don't believe in destiny, but I think there's some truth in trying to over control your success/comfort in a cut throat, top level professional sports league. Just work hard, be happy you were drafted and work towards success with that team, and only actively try to leave if the organization shows some serious harm on the horizon to your career.
The exception of course, is Edmonton. If they draft you then you should be actively trying to get out from day 1.

I believe in the Pony Power

Mike Van Ryn I think was one of the original guys that did this. He had an OK career.
In this case, I think Vesey was a bit unfair to the Preds, but I have no problem with him not signing with Buffalo. It was a big assumption on their part to assume he would even consider it.
Vesey owes nothing to Buffalo. But he was a bit of a dick to Nash.

I wouldn't automatically exclude Calgary.
Remember when Justin Schultz pulled the same thing with Anaheim, everyone had him going to.. Detroit or NYR (can't quite remember, but it was essentially a forgone conclusion). Edmonton swooped in and showed him his place on the roster and how good it would be for his development to grow with their other young superstars (hahaha).
Point is, there is no reason that Calgary wouldn't get Gaudreau and Monahan to talk to him as part of their pitch. They can even point to Kevin Hayes and say: "Look what happened to him when he didn't sign with us. Imagine what he would have been like if he continued playing with Gaudreau."
Not saying we would get him, but I bet the Flames (and a lot of teams) can really make him think. A kid like that wants a guaranteed roster spot, and in a position to succeed so that his next contract can be as big and as long as possible. Calgary is one of the teams in the league that can offer him that.
Not sure he is worth all the effort, but a free asset is a free asset, and you can always trade him back to the Preds

Didn't Vesey tell the Preds at the trade deadline he was going to sign with them at the end of the year for their playoff run. What a DBag move. Rumour was the Preds were going to shop for a forward at the deadline if he wasn't going to sign... but instead left a spot gift-wrapped for him.
