I dislike Rogers as much as the next guy but group health benefits are not typically part of the compensation package for contractors in any industry. No matter how unfortunate Mr. Loubardias.

Pretty delicate balance of asking for help for a colleague and friend without releasing too much information.

Seemed legit - donors included Pinder, Tara Slone and Arash Madani.

Pretty sure it actually was Steinberg that created it - was mentioned by one of the guests the other day I'm pretty sure.

Even if Rogersdoesn't provide benefits in his case, it may be nice for them to kick in a few bucks. Yah, I know the excuse that they can't do it for "everybody", but if it's really that serious, I'm sure it wouldn't kill Rogers to help out.

Oh my. Loubo has been one of my favourite hockey broadcasters since he came to Calgary. Such a nice guy, had a great long chat with him on the street a couple months ago about the Flames.

I really, really hope he gets better. I'll probably pitch in some later today.

I chipped in 20 bucks. I miss the guy on radio already and can't imagine what he's going through. His doctors can't even tell him what's wrong so who knows how long he's going to be out of work.

This would be so stressful on him and his family at a time when they don't need to worrying about money.

Yeah, I'm just wondering if that's a common arrangement in radio?

I'd be careful there. You have no idea how his contract works or is worded.

I see this all the time with contract oil patch employees. As contractors they are responsible for obtaining their own health insurance.

Either way, this is horrible for Peter. Add me to the "He grew on me." Camp.

I'd also like to add, people in radio are VASTLY underpaid. The joke I always hear from on air people is "If your last name isn't Forbes in this this city, you don't get paid."

People that take on this profession do not do it for the money, they do it for the love of what they do, which makes Peter doubly deserving of the help.

Its a bad look for a company to have a on-air personality who's known needing money. I'm sure its in his contract but still not a good look.

Convinced this is on the up and up, and having watched Peter since his days here on STV I've made a donation and would encourage others to do the same.

I donated, texted, tweeted, and put it up on my Facebook...

I hope it helps.

I love Loubo, he's one of my favourite hockey broadcasters and has been for years.

I am really sad he's sick and I hope that he gets well soon.

I'm genuinely surprised at all the speculation around the GoFundMe page being a scam. Why would someone with a long, respected broadcasting career even attempt a scam like this?

PIMking rattled this board good...

I think we're not worried it's a scam if it's set up by Steinberg. We just want to make sure it was Steinberg who set it up and not some scammer. Seems legit, so gonna donate later tonight when I get home.

We do know that companies generally hire contractors to save money and make it easy to lay off. Also it's pretty apparent that Loubardias isn't exactly making a king's ransom from his contract by the existence of the fund assistance being set up. Now while this isn't uncommon in this day and age it's kind of a little disappointing that Rogers is cutting corners like this with the voices of the Flames and as a fan I feel I am entitled to call them out on being an extremely greasy company.

Have we got confirmation from Steinberg that he started the Go Fund Me?

Steinberg's twitter feed doesn't mention it. All the donations show up as from annonymous - which is ok, as long as it's confirmed to be a legitimate Go Fund Me.

surely he would have some kind of health coverage - think about how much time he spends in the US. also, the fan is continuing to run radio spots with his voice - seems like it is poor taste if you don't provide him with any health benefits, but continue to use his voice.

also let's not forget that to some extent he would be offered coverage via provincial health care.

as much as I enjoy listening to Lubo, personally I 'd have to have more details before donating

I think that's the reason why everyone is hesitant about Gofund Me pages. I don't doubt the authenticity of this one but its fair people are curious about it.

That being said, I wish all the best for Lubo and his Family.

Pinder had tweeted the link in error. Apparently Lou doesn't want this to have a lot of attention so Pinder deleted his tweet and Boomer was working to have 660 delete theirs etc...
