I personally paid 94.5 (after the 3.5 discount) at the Petro in Marda Loop at around 6pm today.

Nice for you guys... when its a 25 min car ride, or 90 min bus ride from where you are, thats just a $70/semester donation to you guys on top of $1/L gas and $3.25+ parking.

I filled up my Ranger and my motorbyke to day for a $1.o7/liter as around here prices don't go up the same day as in the big city. Tommorow it's supposed to be up another 10 cents. I mostly ride my bike 6 months a year as it's more fun and gets better milage if I'm not bouncing it off the red line, it's just hard to ride it reasonably.

They just showed on CNN that some place in Atlanta was charging $5.57/gallon ($1.75/litre CAD). Thats nuts. But, apparently, its at or over $3.00 per gallon across the US now.

How much sense does this make, one gas station in Edmonton is charging $1.16/L, the next highest one reported on Edmontongasprices.com is $1.03/L, it looks like a price gouge to me.

Those prices lasted for half the day. There were so many rumors going around that the state was going to run out of gas due to the two main pipelines that supply Atlanta being down due to the Hurricane. It was also being reported that flights may be canceled out of the airport due to jet fuel running out. So mass hysteria broke out.

My brother in-law said it took him double the time to get home, not because the freeway was packed but because of traffic jams on the side streets due to all the people trying to fill up. Many gas stations sold out of their $5 gas. Then the governor warned stations that gas gouging would not be tolerated and magically prices were back down to ~$3/gallon.

I work shifts so carpooling and transit (half the time) are out. Walking is out, I work downtown and live in the 'burbs. Biking would take too long and it only works half the year. Plus I'd have to carry "business" clothes in a backpack.

I bought a motorcycle so I get to save during the summer months, but come winter time I'll be driving more.
Drive less? It would be easy if I were single, childless student living downtown, but that's not the case here.

Sadly, some of us are hooped no matter what. I know that once I no longer need to carry strollers and kids around I'll be getting a smaller car, but until then.....

I drove to school this morning and gas was $2.80 per gallon, and 2 hours later when I drove home the same gas station was $3.00.

I called my dad to tell him that we just passed the $3.00 mark, and he said "don't laugh, Bradenton (the town I live in) isn't getting gas delivered for another 10 days."

Apparently they are rationing it to other parts of the country that need it more. As my father advised, I went and filled up my tank....

Okay, a 10-15 min drive and a 45 min train ride... still not remotely practical.

Like I said, good for a few... an additional useless burden for the rest.

how far do you live from work? I do a 32km round trip bike ride to work. 12 months of the year. I have buddies who have a 50km round tripper and keep it up all year as well. Once you get the clothing, its not a big deal. Riding in snow is less of a pain than riding in the rain for me. And it saves me a ton. I'll take the bus once in awhile.

pretty good setup in Calgary as well. A lot of the pathway gets plowed in the winter as well.
