Just from that video it seems Hamonic is destined to be a Calgary Flame.
Seems like a golden opportunity here to grab guy on a decent contract now to replace some of the outgoing guys that have no long term spot in CGY. I'd be okay if they moved a pick or prospect in a trade for Hamonic.
Speaking of Hall. If Okposo isn't going to sign in NY, would moving Hall out be an option? It would fix Edmonton as much defensively as gaining Hamonic would. Hall for Hamonic straight up, because Snow would also be aware of Hall's defensive ability, and the discrepancy in salary. Might fix that dressing room, too. I would call that even.

Today's news going public may change things, but as of now, Hamonic trade isn't close. Believe Snow has talked to numerous GMs last 6 weeks.

Hamonic declined comment tonight. He will address situation with his teammates tomorrow, then media.

Would like to get Hamonic. Hope Treliving pulls off some more magic. It would be funny to steal another player before Edmonton got their grubby hands on them.
I think I'd do a Gio for Hamonic trade. Taveres is in his prime, so Isles are more of a cup contender than the Flames right now, and Calgary going forward with Hamonic, Hamilton, and Brodie all signed for 15M combined for the next 3 or 4 years is awesome.
Think Isles would be open to getting a vet like Gio to add to their line up.

I disagree. I think this would work out for the Flames more than the Isles. The Isles would be getting a 32 year old with a dodgy injury record and what looks to be(how they might view it) a declining level of play. All that for a guy who has just signed a new long term, high level AAV. I don't think they would touch Gio, I think the conversation starts and ends with Brodie.
Because, think about it, had people suggested this in the summer, I reckon most of CP would have vetoed it straight away. But now, people are far more open to it and I think that is telling. I think for that reason, Snow doesn't do it.
I really don't think we'll be major players in this one, not unless Snow wants Wideman or Russell.
I think Winnipeg would be wise to pursue a Byfuglien swap. I seriously doubt he signs in Winnipeg for next season, plus his constant indiscretions on the ice surely must be wearing thin on the Jets management. So trading him now and getting a younger, cheaper player in return must be pretty appealing. As for the Isles, they get a tough, big guy back who can easily handle top 2/4 minutes and gives them a fair bit of offence as well. Works for both parties, but depends if Snow wants an exact swap or not. Would he risk acquiring a guy who may well hit the RFA market next summer?
The sources indicated Snow has talked with numerous teams about a deal but finding a match has been extremely difficult. "They're not just going to give him away," one source said, adding that Snow is seeking a commensurate return -- an established top-four defenseman, not prospects and/or draft picks. "He's their best defenseman."
