Johansen seemed surprised to hear that Thursday's practice was a "struggle."
"I didn't think practice was that tough," Johansen said. "No, I felt pretty good."

Torts hired. There's one reason you hire Tortorella: whip the team into shape. Suddenly, Johansen gets sent home (and apparently the Trainer is going to make him chicken noodle soup?).
This is an organizational message, not a Tortorella message

Yep. It's pretty obvious that the move was made because the organization feels that Johansen is a great asset but his commitment level isn't where it should be and that they didn't want a coach that was going to pussyfoot around the situation. I would think that if he doesn't take to Torts he will be trade bait in the offseason.

Looks like John Tortorella’s found a new target in Columbus.
After the club’s third straight loss on Sunday — a 3-2 defeat in Florida — Tortorella called the team “embarrassing” before laying into his veterans for a perceived lack of leadership.
“I’m not getting squat from the top players as far as that stuff,” he said, per the Columbus Dispatch. “I see weakness. I think we’re weak mentally, and it’s not the kids.
“I worry about the kids getting into bad habits by watching other people.”

Back in the day he used to be a master of changing the subject, and protecting his players. Now he's just an angry blowhard

Sounds like he needs to go on a bit of a sabbatical or coach in Switzerland for a few years and re-learn his craft and how to deal with today's players.
Man what a terrible year for the Blue Jackets. That team should not be that bad with that roster. Worse part is, they had to give up a 2nd rounder to the Canucks for Torts.

Flames play Columbus on Jan 21st, so hope he lasts until then at least.
Hartley could start Bollig, Ferland and Bennett up front with Smid and Engelland on the back end.

Googled 'Torts' and this is what i found:
#A#tort#consists of a wrongful acts or injury that leads to physical, emotional, or financial damage to a person in which another person could be held legally responsible. This is otherwise known as a tortious act, comitted by a tortfeasor. The two main subcategories of#tort#law are intentional torts#and unintentional#torts.
A Tortious act? Thats gold.

I see this hiring as soon to be every bit of the disaster that Torts to Vancouver was...

Torts in Columbus has gone pretty much as I expected...now there are posters here wondering when the dismissal will come...I think he finishes the season, but, is asked not to return.

I'm just upset that the stupid Canucks got a 2nd round pick for this disaster of a hire!
(At least I think it's a 2nd)

The jackets get to choose, it has to be one of the next 3 drafts iirc

At least the Oilers have to give the Bruins a 3rd round draft choice.

He's becoming so bad he actually might find some job security because of it. Like as a GM if you new you had a middling team that was just spinning its tires but not bottoming out and not making the playoffs, you bring in torts, he sinks the ship for a couple high picks as you dish off veterans for more picks/prospects, and he jump starts the rebuild. Torts, a clinic of ineptitude.

I just heard on the radio that Torts was injured at Jackets practice this morning - I guess Rene Bourque hit a rut in the ice and went sliding into Torts who took a nasty spill. Apparently, it was serious enough that Torts went to hospital. I'm no fan of Torts, but you don't want to see anybody hurt.

Poor Torts. Just can't catch break.
First Hartley, now Bourque.
