I'd love to see Ferland wear a Ferkland jersey for warmup

If the dome want's to go for it i'll laugh from my TV set and enjoy but like I said i'd personally not bring someone's family into it.

They had a cameraman assigned to him for the entirety of two games. He was obviously a willing participant in a pathetic production.

That still raises the issue of whether officials should be deputizing players (LOL NOPE), obviously, but that's totally separate.
It'd be nice if everyone kept their heads on their shoulders and their feet grounded in reality in this series. This kind of sensationalism makes me cringe.

lol
YOU brought the issue up. Though we don't know what happened, there are basically two possible scenarios:
1) the linesman deputized the player
2) the player is lying
You agree that the first scenario would be an outrage, as do I. IMO, this scenario seems unlikely - in my life, I can't think of a similar situation ever happening.
So, Cali speculated that it was the 2nd scenario. And that is certainly possible and plausible. Yet you are more prepared to accuse the linesman than the player.
And then you state others should keep "their heads on their shoulders and their feet grounded in reality"
You might want to get off your high horse here.

There is no attack on the family member here.
The attack is towards Hughson and the CBC. And it is well deserved.
I agree that insulting or attacking a family member would be completely inappropriate. But chanting 'where's your daddy' is nothing of the kind.
It would be funny. Relax and have some fun.

First of all, I didn't raise the issue, I quoted the OP who made a fairly extreme statement calling the guy a liar, and I was wondering what new information had come out that I wasn't aware that would lead to making such a blunt statement. Apparently, it was based on nothing, and like a lot of stuff since game 2, that bugs me because there's been quite a bit of melodrama and hyperbole. I'm pretty sure I actually saw a post calling for a delay of game penalty for ragging the puck on the delayed call in the third last game.
Yeah, unless someone comes out and says "that didn't happen", I'll take a guy's word when it lines up with the video and him lying about it can't possibly help him in any way because the officials would simply contradict him if it was a matter of supplemental discipline. You need at least SOME basis for saying he's full of crap. And yeah, that is something that Schick should be dealing with with his officiating team for the series.
I think what I probably need to get off isn't any high horse but the internet... this place and HF are being very internet right now.

Spector article on playoff lies. A couple funny older playoff stories:
http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/c...f-hockey-lies/
Quote:
Like Friday night in Vancouver, where the Vancouver Province’s Jason Botchford relayed Derek Dorsett’s post-game account of how Vancouver defenceman Dan Hamhuis ended up being the third man into that Game 2 scrap between Dorsett and Calgary’s Derek Engelland. According to Dorsett, the officials were so taxed that they actually asked Hamhuis go in and assist poor Dorsett to settle Engelland down. (Editor’s note: The ref I spoke to Saturday is still laughing at this.)
“Deputy Dan Hamhuis,” as the Province deliciously nicknamed him, went in and made peace, and you could tell this because he didn’t throw any punches at Engelland. That was Dorsett’s story, and it was a whopper.
“I love it!” said former Flame Jim Peplinski Saturday. “That’s a world class excuse.”
|
Quote:
Peplinski recalls the time he got into it with Claude Lemieux, and had his finger bitten right down to the bone. Blood was everywhere.
“Lemieux said to the ref, it was Denis Morel, ‘I didn’t bite his finger. He bit his own finger!’ I remember saying to Denis, ‘If I was going to bite my own finger to get a powerplay, I probably wouldn’t have bitten it down the bone
|
Quote:
There was the time Marty McSorley speared Mike Bullard in the groin so hard in a playoff game at Northlands Coliseum that Bullard left on a stretcher. The next day, McSorley claimed amnesia. Couldn’t remember a thing. His coach, Glen Sather, never got a real clear look at the incident. It occurred right in front of the benches.
But wait, there’s more. The Flames said Bullard nearly lost a vital organ, and demanded a suspension. Poor guy may never be the same, might never father kids, they said.
“Terry Crisp was our coach,” Bullard told me years later. “They take me off on the stretcher, and into the room. I say to (trainer) Bearcat Murray, ‘We need a win here. I’m OK. Go tell Crispy.’ He goes out to the bench and says to Crispy: ‘Bully’s says he’s OK. Do you want him?’ And Crispy says, ‘(Hell) no. He hasn’t done a goddamned thing yet anyway. Leave him in the room.’”

I think the ref could have said something like "get over there and contain that guy" to Hamhuis. I think the misconduct was given to Hamhuis because he left and then came back and re-engaged with Engelland.

so you'll take the player's word for it and, by extension, accuse the linesman of acting inappropriately. Ok, then.
Think about it: who is going to call him out?
The refs and the league will never comment on any on-ice situations like that.
The media aren't going to accuse him of anything because they have no proof one way or the other.
So it comes down to speculation: is the player lying, or is the official completely offside and unprofessional?

Alright, I'll admit when I'm wrong: it's not just some fans who are accusing him of lying. It's also Mark Spector.
Yeah I get that it's weird, that's what I've been saying all along, but his explanation at least aligns with the weirdness. Why bother going to be a third man in if you're not going to drop your gloves and all you do is try to wrestle a guy to the ice? None of it makes any sense to me.

If anyone has any ins with the entertainment/music/jumbotron people please pass on the following
no music before puck drop
the crowd will handle all that dead space, trust me
nothing worse than a rowdy crowd getting drowned out by loud music. Kills the build up completely.

Agreed, they also need Harvey out early to set the Go Flames Go chant tempo with his drum. Otherwise the 2 sides end of out of sync.

In regards the the "injury" I believe Bennett said himself that he had the wind knocked out of him and that he is 100 percent.

The only thing I would believe is if once Hamhuis came over, the ref told him to "just hold him". As in don't throw punches now that you're here.
I don't believe anything else.

I would like to get Byron in the lineup over Raymond, for his speed and energy he would bring - but we cannot afford not to put Bollig in tonite!

Had to remove a friend from my news feed on facebook, because of all the trolling he's been doing since the end of game 2.
Why can't people just be mature and respectful when their team wins? Does it really need to be "hah, you suck and we rule" all the time?
It's exhausting. When Calgary won game 1, all you saw on my facebook feed was a "wooooooot, great game, glad I stayed up" and that's about it.
