He's worse than MacTavish... as amazing as that is to say.

Buffalo and Arizona tanked to obviously, tempted fate.

The Flames better win tomorrow or this will be such s horrible weekend.

As much as the Oilers have failed this kid is going to be a difference maker for them.

It's not. Eichel is going to be a difference maker.

Gary Bettman looked just as disgusted as McDavid

It's without a doubt the absolute worst case scenario for the NHL. They will never admit it but they just lost a huge marketing opportunity south of the border.

What a joke. This league is broken. A team that has embraced losing gets rewarded again...for the fourth time. This is a punch in the gut.

How do you fix the lottery system? it's a lottery. The fact that there is a lottery to begin with gave Edmonton a chance.

I personally think the Yotes are running away with another gold medal if they take Strome. Will be a #1 C in my mind.

I don't get all the "they have to fix the lottery system" comments.

This is how it's supposed to work. The Oilers suck, but they did not tank.

The idea is to not reward teams for tanking, and that's what just happened.

Sucks that it went to Edmonton, but mission accomplished.

I feel so bad for McDavid.

This is bigger than Flames fans hating on Oilers and being jelly of thier #1 pick. Connor is seriously a special player and the NHL and fans will miss out on seeing a special player chase guys like Crosby, Stammer and Ovechkin.

I am a huge fan of Ovi and I love watching him succeed and chase records. I don't love Crosby, but it's great watching him chase records as well.

This is just so wrong. Feel so bad for McDavid.

It will be fun watching Ferly trynna get under McDavid's skin haha.

The dynamics in their dressing room next year will be hilarious...

All of the entitled ones sitting there, staring at this new kid getting all the attention. It'll be like watching a 3 year old getting jealous of her new little sister.

Boy's Boy's Boy's, you're missing the big picture

1) There's no way that Katz gets rid of Lowe and Mac-t now for the next two years. Why do you think that Mac-T labeled next year as a development year, and the year after they move to a new building. Katz is going to give these two every opportunity to be able to stand in front of the press and say they told them so. If the Oilers had dropped back the chances of Lowe and Mac-T being around next year would be low.

2) Every GM in the NHL knows that Mac-T is going to be looking desperately for a top defenseman and a top goaltender, and the prices are going to go up. Especially since those type of players don't grow on trees. The Oilers are going to be in a sellers market.

3) The Oilers are already a cap team and in two years they're going to have to break up that core. Its just the way it is.

Relax fellas, that team with or without McDavid has no leadership, no heart, no two way game, no roster depth and no future.

If the NHL truly isn't happy they really should put preventative measures to ensure teams like the Oilers don't pick first overall 4/6 years. The rest of the league is suffering because the Oilers are being historically bad here. They should be some rule that if you pick top 5 for so many years that you are excluded the next draft from picking top 5 and automatically get the 6th pick even if you finish 30th. This is pretty embarrassing for the league.

I've had enough of these smug dipsticks coming to the podium every spring to tell the hockey world how they are doing everything right.

Don't worry everyone. Mactavish will go off the board for the first pick, taking a Russian and hoping McDavid drops to 33

There are a lot of upset NHL executives tonight after seeing the #oilers get another No. 1 pick. Wonder if the system is examined again.
