Crazy though a Cup final, Presidents trophy, 96pt playoff miss and he is done
All good teams have to do that.. keep your core together, till they rot and you are in "cap jail" ....

Looking at the team's success under Chiarelli it doesn't seem like he'll be unemployed for long. Only things I can think of that might explain the firing are personality conflict, or it's just that the Bruin's feel they are about to enter a rebuilding phase and have someone else in mind for the job.

But Neely was in on that trade! Life isn't fair.

The pressure that owners and upper management puts on GMs to make the playoffs often make them make bad decisions by selling off the future. I believe that's what happened here with Sutter and to some extent with Feaster as well. The owners seem to smarten up only when disaster strikes like when the Flames went into free fall. I'd guess Boston's next GM will be hired on the promise to take the team back into the playoffs but in the end it's probably a losing game.

This.

And Boston only missed the playoffs cause Ottawa miraculously came back from 3-0 down.

Boston will be a bottom feeder for awhile now.

Dumb move. Who are they going to get now?? Dave Nonis?

Marc Savard's concussion issues didn't really help the situation either. Might have added some pressure to make less beneficial moves.
