Treliving praising Gillies for carrying Providence to a national championship
"Having guys that have won is really important"
"The messiah didn't show up today. This is a young guy that just started his career."
Treliving confirms the 1st year of Gillies contract has started and burned as of 30 minutes ago.
Also confirms Ortio had "to go away" once Ramo got healthy and Jon gives them an option of 3rd goalie.

I find it a bit strange you can burn a year off his contract if he doesn't suit up for a game.

I don't know about that. Stanley Cup winner Craig MacTavish says that there's no greater springboard to development than failure.
Jon Gillies, you should have lost in the Frozen Four. You've done goofed and now your development has stalled.

Rubbish. Gillies is going to win the 2015 Conn Smythe trophy.

Dear Friartown,
Coming to school as an 18-year old and not knowing what expect, everyone in the Providence College community helped make the transition completely seamless. It has been an indescribable honor to wear the Friar jersey and represent you for the past three years. The support during the tough times was just as strong, if not stronger, than it was during the good times, and that is one of the many things that makes Providence such a special place.
College hockey is a spectacle like no other, and being able to represent one of its best communities and fan bases has been something that I cannot begin to adequately describe and will never forget. I know that my classmates will continue to build the legacy that we started writing as freshmen, and I'm humbled to have been a part of such a special class and transition period in the history of Providence College hockey.
I am forever indebted to each and every one of you, and I hope I was able to reward some of your faith in me during my time here. I am forever a Friar, and that makes me one of the luckiest people in the world.
Oh, and we are forever National Champions ... Together!
Thank you, Friartown, I'll see you soon.

yup. Already seemed like a well-spoken kid when we drafted him.
it's crazy if you watch Gillies' draft interview (and the one of Culkin as well) and get to the point where Kerr asks "who/what do you know about the Calgary Flames?", and the answers are "Jarome Iginla, Miikka Kiprusoff, Jay Bouwmeester and Alex Tanguay". Crazy how fast things can change in this business.

Oh thats fantastic, why not just hand him #31 while we're at it so that we all get confused with JG13 and JG31?
Great. Just great.
