Not only will we make the playoffs but I think those last two games of the season won't even matter because we will have clinched by then. This team finds ways to win and when they don't, they still find a way to get loser points.

LA kings have arguably the hardest schedule to round out the year, in both level of competition and road games, with 6 home and 11 road games left (their road record is abysmal 10-14-6). It's total possible that flames get in purely by the Kings stinking out the rest of the season.

To all the fans that voted no..

Haven't the Flames done enough this season to gain respect from their fan base? They've been proving everyone wrong since the start of the season and continue to battle. I think they've earned your support.

There's enough Flames haters out there who still doubt the team. We need to believe!

I think it is programmed into our fanbase that the Flames will let us down, they have done it for many years.

Only fans of San Jose and Vancouver have a right to feel this way.

Really? How many playoff rnds have the Flames won since the Cup, not including 2004? The additions of vet players to make pushes that failed, etc...

Outside of '04, I haven't been alive for any Flames success. Even '04 for all intents and purposes, was a let down.

I also believe we're better than Winnipeg, and not by a small margin, and that we'll outplay them down the stretch. We may indeed surrender the #3 spot to LA in the end, but at worst I can see us ousting the Jets from the race and snagging a wildcard spot.

Nothing about that team has made me think they're western conference playoff team material, expect for their strong play for about a month and a half that saw them beat a bunch of teams they weren't supposed to while riding stellar goaltending. But thats a fraction of the season as a whole, and in each meeting the Flames have faced them, the Flames' work ethic and heart has been way more evident.

They're the weakest link in the top 8, as good as they've been this season.

I voted no, because the question was if they will make it into the playoffs.

I respect and admire what they've done here, but I'm also rational and understand my belief or lack thereof won't change that

I have supported and will continue to support this team every single night.

My 'no' vote was just what I felt was realistic. Does not mean I am no longer supporting them. I'm extremely proud of what they've accomplished this season, regardless of how these last 16 games play out.

Love this team's effort and virtually every game has been worth watching, win or lose. But I think it'll be "close, but no cigar." I think the loss of Gio will eventually take its toll.

By most measurements, they have a better than 50% chance of making it. How is it unrealistic or irrational to think they will?

I actually think LA misses. Much tougher road schedule, and notwithstanding their better recent play, they are 6-3-1 in their last 10. Good, but not great.
I remember a few years back, when they won their first cup, the Flames were still in the hunt and LA came to town and crushed us 3-0 or so. They destroyed us and a bunch of other teams in the stretch drive. I just don't see it this year. Too many miles over the last few years, perhaps.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

"It’s more like a city against the world,” acknowledged Calgary Flames forward Joe Colborne. “It’s pretty special right now. There are a lot of people that are extremely excited about what’s going on here. You can feel it kind of building, I guess.

“Outside of this city, a lot of people just continue to think that we’re going to collapse anytime. It’s nice, though, that throughout this city and with our fans, that they have our backs and they’re supporting us.”
Quote:
“When we scored that first goal, I said to myself, ‘Here we go again,’ ” recounted Flames head coach Bob Hartley after Tuesday’s practice session at the Saddledome, their first twirl on home ice in more than two weeks. “They were jumping in front of me. We had a hard time to keep them sitting down. It looked like a bunch of Timbits out there.”
Quote:
“I went to the mall (Monday) and a couple of people said, ‘Congratulations,’ and obviously said that they’re excited about what’s coming up here,” said Flames sophomore centre Sean Monahan. “We want to do it for the fans that have been loyal to us throughout this whole process. We’re looking forward to doing that as a team.”

“It’s been awhile since the Flames have been in the playoffs, so I think everyone is pretty excited,” added Flames rookie sensation Johnny Gaudreau, who was also at the mall on his day-off.

“I saw a lot of Flames jerseys and signs and stuff like that. You can just tell when you walk into a store and you see a little Flames logo wherever, hanging from the ceiling or on the desk. It’s exciting to be a part of something like this.”

That was sadly the last flames game I attended before moving away from Calgary. Memories.

I try and stay clear of predictions so I'll just say I thought by the end of November, I'd come back to earth and realize playoffs weren't happening. That this is March and I'm still excited for our chances is amazing.

I voted no, because I'd like the Flames to prove me wrong... Damn superstitions.
