Time for Shore, Ferland and Poirier to get an extended opportunity..
Granlund had a lengthy shot at it and either isn't going to be good enough or needs more time in the AHL. Give as many young guys as you can until the end of the season to learn and grow in the big show. We have enough vets that are not part of the future and don't bring enough to the table. Let them sit in the stands.
Hope Shore plays lots with good linemates until the season ends.

Do you not think there is some irony that you posted this in a thread titled " Flames Recall Drew Shore"?
The last 3 games featured 5 rookies in the lineup. Tonight could include: Shore, Poirier, Ferland, Jooris, and Gaudreau.
I am not seeing the problem.
As for Shore, I am looking forward to seeing him over the remainder of the season to see what his game looks like. Can he force Jooris over to the wing (which is a good thing IMO)?

I've heard that Shore is very good at the cycle game, something the Flames could use, if true.

Pumped to see Shore a lot more for the rest of the season. It's going to be at the expense of Granlund but that is fine. I wonder how long Stajan is going to be gone too. this will also give Shore more time to find his game in the NHL.

It's early days yet, but where do people see Shore fitting in the lineup?

3-4 Centre. 4 at best next year assuming Backlund stays around. Has to displace Stajan.
Or possibly 3-4 winger. There's room on the bottom 6, especially on the right side.

I see him being a mainstay on our power play as he's probably our second best right handed shooter after Wideman.
As for 5 vs 5, I dunno about this year, but I'm predicting our forwards roster next year to be
Gaudreau-Monahan-Raymond
Hudler-Bennett-Jones
Bouma-Backlund-Shore
Byron-Stajan-Jooris
I'd live Raymond out and Poirier in, and Stajan out, Colborne in, personally. Treliving needs to wheel and deal the vet forwards.

I guess the guy is hitting the waiver wire in October just like Baertschi, and maybe he was ready, or almost ready last time, I think I just need someone to better explain the timing of the move, was it a roster space issue that he wasn't up earlier? Glencross in the way?
|
Glencross could be part. Mostly, I think he was a victim of timing. If Ramo's injury and Ortio's solid play hadn't created a situation where we carried three goalies for a couple weeks, Shore likely would have been at the NHL level (in place of Granlund) the whole time. But once the Flames had to send him down, they probably felt it best to keep their options open, which is why waiver exempt guys got recalled instead once Ortio went back down.
But, as sureloss notes, it no longer matters. The team wants and needs to see what he can do because he can't be send back next year. Now's the time.

First Line Centre

He looked strong against the Flyers. He has a good shot and release. Seems to like to take the body and wasn't useless at faceoffs.
Good addition to the Flames for the stretch run.

I would love to see the youth movement continue and get to see a 4th line of:
Ferland - Shore - Wolf

No there isn't. We're cloning Bouma in the offseason. Bizarro Bouma will play RW.
