Just once I'd like to see Dracula, or Hitler, or Osama be the #1 name.

We just brought Declan home for the first time last night. He seemed happy to find out he's got an original name.

Lol the jaxon/lucaz comment made me laugh. Have at least 2 each on my fb

Thing is it really depends on the area. Liam is a popular name in Alberta...clearly very popular. In other areas it may not be. It certainly isn't in this area where teachers teaching for numerous years have remarked our son is the first Liam they've taught (though it is a popular name in the state overall right now just not the area...a lot of boys named Wyatt though). At the time he was born it also wasn't popular in the province we were in. My daughter will likely never have a popular name unless we move to Wales or a Fleetwood Mac song has a huge resurgence due to it being covered by some pop star.

Id like to see the lists of how many people have legally changed their first names and what they changed them from and to....

Be interesting to see how many WhiskeyJack's went in and dropped the Whiskey....or the Jack for that matter to something that won't get them beat up any longer.

My son was born in 2009 (so I guess just around the time it became popular) and we named him Liam because I wanted a good old fashioned Irish name.

Shortly after, I became aware of three other Liams born around the same time period. Had no idea it would become this popular a name over here.

Nothing you can do about it if you're at the beginning of the wave of a popular name, so I wouldn't sweat it.

In 2013 if I was naming a kid Liam, however, I would have gone with William to give the kid some flexibility to not be part of a pack of Liams if he so chose.

We named our second child Kort.

Which did not show up once on the 2013 list. 1 Cort and 1 Court.

Some may not like it, but it is simple and strong.

Hey does anybody here have a fataed up spelling of a normal name? If so, what stops you from just spelling it the way familiar to everybody else out there in your normal, everyday life?

I know somebody named 'Angelia' but it's pronounced 'Angela'. She spends half of every day correcting the pronunciation, when really she should just write 'Angela' on forms/documents/etc. that don't matter. It boggles my mind.

All that's missing from the absurd number of Jacksons is one with an apostrophe in it (like say Jack'son) or a Z in it (like say Jaxzen).

One is her legal name; the other is not.

Sadly, when I hear someone had a baby I feel the need to congratulate them, not on the birth of their child but actually giving him/her a normal name.

Also interesting on the last letter statistic. My name ends with N, as does the abbreviated version of my name.
