Only Oiler player willing to work hard and I respect. Unfortunately the age and some of his old injuries caught up to him. I respect him for his willingness to stand in front of the net every game. You don't see a lot of NHL players willing to do that anymore.

Wonder what they'll spend the money saved on his contract this time around? That dressing room upgrade has done wonders.

Eakins had it totally wrong with his "Chop Wood, Carry Water". It should have been "Dig Holes, Score Goals"

Sorry but I have always hated the guy, probably because of his long term loyalty to an organization I hate.

He became a complete goal-suck in his later years. Cherry-picking, never passing, and shooting from ridiculous angles.

Dammit wrong thread. Anyway, I don't hate Ryan Smyth. Very good career carved out of zero physical tools.

Good guy, decent player, horrendous team. Being considered an Oilers legend in that era must be really bitter sweet. Probably more bitter than sweet.

I remember watching him stand in front of the net eeeeevery single game during his prime for eeeevery single shift being a stupid stupid head and stuffing loose pucks into the back of the net while pretty much interfering with every goalie in the league BUT HEY GUYS ITS COOL OILERS.

One of my least favourite players, but carved himself out a decent career and wasn't a total twat while doing it. Good riddance? I guess, I don't know, I don't even think I care anymore. I forgot he was still playing.

did a lot with little skill...its not a knock the guy was all heart. If the young turks had half his heart the Oilers wouldn't be in last place every year

all this being said it is time for him to hang em' up and get a lifetime position in the Oilers front office

the irony of the oilers situation....

they won more with this average talent, all heart, player steering their 1st line than they have with 3 all-skill 1st round hype players.

One of the cheapest players in hockey. Always resorted to cheap tactics and acted like they were accidents.

No respect for the guy from me, good riddance.

Master of the 'Who? Me?' vacant stare right after cross-checking people in the back.

Good God. Is he just naming everyone he ever met in 20 years of hockey? We're going to be here all day. By nickname no less. Kill me.

He doesnt even know how to pronounce Dallas Eakins' name? Thats somewhat telling.
