Jacobs just made a huge mistake in the 9th end to allow Denmark back in this game. Canada will still have the hammer in the 10th end but it's now tied.

Canada, leading 6-4 in the 9th end in Men's curling against Denmark, just missed a shot badly.
6-6 going into the 10th end.

Jacobs with a 7-6 squeaker. Is it just me or does E.J. Harnden always look like he is about to cry?
Russia also just had an amazing steal of 3 in the 10th end to beat the Swiss team due to a terrible draw from Switzerland, netting them their 1st victory.
Standings:
1) China 4-0
T2) Great Britain 4-1
T2) Sweden 4-1
4) Norway 3-1
5) Canada 3-2
6) Denmark 2-3
Three of the four remaining matches for Canada are against teams with better records, arguably the #3 and #4 seeds in GBR and NOR. They can't afford to lose more than one of those matches. Beating Norway is crucial, as they are the team directly ahead of us in the standings. China and Norway each have four tough matches left, and Sweden is unlikely to lose again and will likely win the tournament.
I think as long as we beat Norway, we'll be good, even if we lose to Great Britain (though we obviously want the best position).

Nesbitt currently 2nd in the 1000m, though 10 pairs are left to go. Not great overall, but better than how she has performed all year which is good. Form and reps might help her in the 1500m.

Haha... well, it has worked for me so far but today is the first day I've tried it. I'll let you know.

Christine Nesbitt now in 3rd... I'm really hoping her time can hold up for a bronze.

Men's short program is coming up. Patrick Chan is skating in the fourth group (which is stacked with the likes of Hanyu, Fernandez - both being coached by Brian Orser in Canada).
Kevin Reynolds is skating in group 3.
Liam Firus just wrapped up his short program with a stumble.

No such luck.
Nesbitt now 4th. It looks like she needed to be about half a second faster for the podium.
I hope she can use this race as a stepping stone to win the 1500m.

It was still her best showing of the entire year, after her best showing in the 500m (her weakest event). Her best performance this year was in the 1500m and I wish her the best of luck in it.
Luge soon!

Evgeni Plushenko just withdrew from the short program. It's a huge blow to the Russian team and Russian skate fans as he was the only entry from Russia in the mens event.

I just turned the channel and saw Plushenko hurt himself in the warmup. Is he out?
Edit: Thanks FFR. That sucks for him and Russia. What a downer.

It is really disappointing for Russia. He's a legend over there - and really, throughout the entire skating world.
Announcers are speculating it was his back - he's had disc surgery previously.

He's had so many surgeries in the past few years it was amazing in and of itself that he managed to even come back and compete. Great career.
