Have you ever left the game after a loss but it was a great game to watch? Yes, probably many times. THAT's the problem with the raising ticket prices. I forget exactly but I think over the last 7-10 years I'm pretty sure the Flames have raised ticket prices every single year. And the problem is then you have these idiots sit out half a year while they squabble over the billions. F that noise.

I think it has less to do with "being cool" relating to winning / losing / rebuilding and more to do with the QUALITY OF THE PRODUCT.

If the rookies come in, are crap, but play an exciting brand then yes- raise prices, you'll probably have people excited about the near-term future of the team. If they dick around and float all over the place, you shouldn't raise prices because the product really does suck.

It's like they're rewarding themselves for inept management and laziness on the ice.

This, I am and will always be a fan of this team...I am happy they are going in a new direction.

I don't like that they raise tickets every season...rewarding everyone for failure. Especially after the lockout debacle last season that solved nothing. Makes me feel like a sucker to keep coming back and paying whatever they charge.

I am just venting some frustration with constant ticket price increases...I will never not be a Flames fan

Well I think the lack of excitement the last few years BS is just that BS.

I didn't find the games all that much more exciting when the young guys came in at the end of the year and supposedly played with more passion. The games were horribly played and tough to watch at times.

They are rewarding themselves because the marketplace has shown a willingness to pay the prices they set and they can charge these prices and make more than they would charging less.

If the team was going 82-0 winning every game 10-0 while playing a beautiful style of hockey but nobody wanted to go to the games there is no chance they are raising prices every year.

Well agree to disagree on that point. This fan knew that if they held onto that core of players, they would never achieve anything significant. And I knew that about at least 1 year prior, and I'm more or less an idiot. If I saw that, I guarantee anybody with half a brain saw that. In December 2011, were you looking at this group and saying yep- these guys could win a cup????

Lack of excitement is bs? That's laughable, this has been a very boring team for quite awhile. Ever watched Pittsburgh or Philly? I know you have and their games were significantly more interesting. Obviously just my opinion. Same with playoffs, almost to a game all of them were more interesting than Flames games because their players were laying it out on the line every night.

They can absolutely reward themselves based on the willingness of the market, but that market is a two way street. Fans should reward themselves for the stupidness and stubbornness of the team. And while this small opening for ticket holders may not be a big deal, and I'd agree with that, it clearly is a sign that fans' willingness to pay increasing prices for crap product does have its' limits.

Assuming the numbers Ace posted before are accurate, there's 48 total seats available with this offer. That's less than one quarter of one percent of the capacity of the Saddledome.

This isn't anything new. Every year, people on the Hot House list get offered tickets just before the start of the season. It's most likely because people who previously renewed had their accounts closed for some reason (non-payment, cancellation, etc).

They're still selling Hot House memberships, so demand is still higher than supply.

Let's get back to basic economics here for a second. Generally speaking, prices are set by supply and demand, not by whether or not the Flames spend to the cap. While missing the playoffs may decrease demand, as long as greasy Bronco guy and his co-horts are making a profit on game nights, I would argue that the Flames are setting their price points too low.

I'd much prefer this money end up with the Flames ownership than with Bronco guy, even if I end up paying a little more for my season tickets.
