You can probably also find dozens of goaltenders that have the same numbers or better than Brossoit that never amounted to anything in pro hockey on any level.

Brossoit could be great, could be a bust - no one knows.
The Flames haven't exactly been great at developing goalies. And decent ones they have drafted and/or developed they let get away like Anderson and Roloson (Giguere to a lesser extent).

Except I am not saying he will be anything. I am just tired of people looking for reasons to complain and put down our prospects. Let's just let time sort this out and appreciate they are currently playing well.
But I really don't think you will find many 18 year old goaltenders that were playoff MVP to compare him to

So... about the actual series. It's tied 1-1 with game 3 in Edmonton tonight.

That's the key I think. If the Flames were smart, we should have traded Keeley knowing we have our number 1 in Kipper for the next half a decade. Although he did get some backup games, but being a backup is completely different.

Keetley's main trouble was when the Flames took Irving with a 1st round pick. He got fired down the depth chart when Irving went pro.

I don't think anyone was complaining or putting Brossoit down.
I said he was going to have to be better against Portland than he was against Calgary. And the other discussion to me reads as non-WHL followers trying to compare him to talent that has been in our system so they can figure out how legit he is.
Perhaps I'm a little more de-sensitized to the negativity than you are.

Tough game for Brossoit. His defence was just brutal in the first period. Can't blame him on any of the goals. Portland capitalized on a bunch of odd man rushes and the Oil Kings just had no puck luck in the third. Wotherspoon was steady. Didn't see anything good nor bad from him tonight.
First time seeing Jones live and man the kid is a beast. Just physically he is so big and strong. Guys would take runs at him and it just didn't affect him. Pretty impressive for a 18 year old.
Another guy I really liked was Petan. Going into the draft I might stay away from him just because of his size, but tonight might have me rethinking. Real skilled, pretty shifty and he seemed real smart. Seems like a Weisbrod guy from what I saw tonight. Him and Rattie gave Edmonton trouble all night long. From reports I've read and seeing him tonight I think I'd probably be alright with using our 3rd first on him despite his size. I plan on watching him a little more closely tomorrow night.

Can we all now admit that Sven wasn't the straw that stirred Rattie's drink? He's pretty good in his own right

It is 3-1 Winterhawks now. Doesn't look good for a return trip to the Memorial Cup for Brossoit and the Oil Kings. Would be nice though to get a look at the Winterhawks team. That team has some VERY interesting players including Wotherspoon, obviously.
Also, hopefully Ferland punches someone really hard.

Someone other than Wotherspoon; or anyone the Flames might be drafting; or anyone outside a bar.

If the Winterhawks close this series out, I'm going to be very interested to see how Wotherspoon does going up against other team's top players. We already saw that he can handle them in the WJC when he wasn't the go-to guy.
Now that he's the go-to guy on his team, I'm looking forward to seeing how he handles Drouin, MacKinnon, Frk and Fournier from Halifax, Hall, Scheifele and Camara from Barrie, and Stransky, McColgan and Ferland from Saskatoon.
So much fire power in this Memorial Cup coming up. Going to be fun to watch. My prediction is it'll be a Halifax/Portland Final with Portland just squeaking past the Mooseheads for the Mem Cup.

But by the end of the WJ's he was the go to guy.
Watch the semi-final game again if you ever get the chance. He was out against Yakupov every shift 5 on 5 and absolutely shut Yak down. The only time Yak was visible in that game was the two PPs, and Wotherspoon wasn't on the ice with him.

WTF, Carruth? One of the worst plays I've ever seen a goalie make, for no logical reason.
