What is so great about Katie Holmes anyway? The only thing I know her from is teeny bopper Dawson's Creek.
She's not hot, she's a 3 out of 10. She should change her name to Katie Homely.
Nicole Kidman seems like a really nice normal person, I wonder how she wound up with goofball Tom Cruise. Or maybe she is a bit crazy behind the scenes too.

Katie Holmes is waaayyyy better than three out of 10. And like I said earlier in the thread Nicole Kidman careerwise was lucky to be with Cruise. She has done nothing but crap without and even the three movies she did with him weren't that great. [/b][/quote]
The Others was pretty good.

Hopefully Dawson can save Katie Holmes before she really falls under the "Cruise Control"*.
*boooooo for that joke

I'd be very careful about that. A guy attended an anti-scientology rally with a pickett sign that said: "I'm going to launch a 'Cruise' Missile" as a pun on Cruise's celebrity scientology...
And the church's office of affairs (their gestapo) and their army of lawyers schemed their way into getting the guy convicted of making threatening remarks against the church in California and he faces a 1-3 year prison sentence. They also tied up and froze all his assets, bankrupted him, and are working on custody of his home so he can't afford an appeal. The guy's currently seeking asylum in Canada but he's being harrassed by the church here (it's not a legalized religion in Canada and several high-ranking members of the Toronto branch have been arrested for stealing government documents) and also the local police.
These guys are insane. An ex-CIA director said that scientolgy had one of the best intelligence networks out there. The church also has a crazy para-naval fleet floating in international waters with all the executives of scientology wearing naval uniforms.

DId she not win an academy award for best actress after the Cruise split? Keep in mind they had essentially split prior to/during filming Moulin Rouge for which she was also nominated. Whether you liked the movies or not I'd say her career certainly didn't go into free fall without him around.

Her career has gone well but the movies she made are all crap. She may have been nominated for Moulin Rouge but that was a horrible movie. The Hours??? awful.

You said career wise she was lucky to be with Cruise. I said without him her career has gone pretty darn well.
In your view her movies are crap but keep in mind for nearly every movie the a large number of people will think it's crap. She has received consider critical acclaim on the big screen and on the stage since the break up. "crap" movies or not it's the truth and will probably continue being so. Personally I think most Tom Cruise movies are crap. And most Kidman movies prior to Moulin Rouge crap. I found Moulin Rouge to be a fun movie if you were a teenager in the 80's early 90's and with a few drinks in you.

Laugh. I just stumbled across this.
The Modern Library had a big vote-off (in 1999) for the 100 best novels of the 20th century and the same for non-fiction.
The "public" voted Battlefield Earth by L. Ron Hubbard to be the 3rd best novel of the century.
"Dianetics..." by L. Ron Hubbard was voted as the second finest work of non-fiction produced in that time.
I don't normally get into these conspiracy theories, but this reeks of the biggest poll hijack there ever was with more than 400,000 votes cast.
Ayn Rand fans were in on it too.

I was reading about that in one of the links someone posted here. Apparently the church will release a book, then buy up loads of copies in the first few weeks to put it onto the best sellers list. It's quite the conspiracy, and no doubt takes a lot of cash to pull off.
I wonder if they own Tramps used book and CD stores all over the states as well?

Nope, the Church sends teams to bookstores, buys the books (making sure they are kept mint condition), and then returns them to their own distribution facility to send back to the bookstores again! One store manager realized what was happening when he got a shipment of "new books" in and noticed that some of them still had the same price sticker from his store that wasn't removed!
I do however, find it hilarious that the Randians OUT-HIJACKED the scientologists!!! LOL!!!!

Well before Cruise she wasn't exactly rolling in the big time roles. After appearing in some movies with him she has done okay rolewise, although I would say the movies were awful.

I actually liked Far and Away which most people hated. It was just a very pulpy cliche historial romance piece but it was pure fun.
And I'm sorry Mr. Kubrick but I was too distracted by all the orgy in Eyes Wide Shut to actually figure out what was going on.
The latest Kidman film, Bewitched opened like any other Kidman film...around $20 million...beat out by Batman Begins after that movie had been out for over 17 days! Even Will Farrell couldn't save it.
