Good Fing Riddance! What a waste of time and BILLIONS of dollars over the last 20 years. I have 16 registration slips coming out to the range with me next weekend.

I want the PAL but wondering how I can take the firearm safety course due to my disability, If I had a setup like that video, I wouldn't be the one physically handling the weapon. Anyone shed some light on the subject?

You just need the PAL to purchase and own the firearm, to handle or shoot a gun you don't need any actual license. Obviously you would go anywhere the gun did so you could verbally give concent to any one asking to handle it on your behalf. Even with the registry I used guns that I did not own and was stopped by the RCMP, but I had a hand written and dated note from my dad to use his gun even had his phone numbers and the RCMP were fine with that.

Back on topic though, in order to get your PAL I know I had to do a hands on test with actual guns. Is that something you would be able to do at all?? If not I would fire off an email to one of the trainers at the Calgary Gun Club or call them and ask. Please let me know what the outcome is I'm very interested how they handle it.

I would like to buy restricted firearms to collect them and maybe eventually buy the equipment to fire it. Will contact some people and find out. I'll post the outcome.

I don't see why wouldn't be able to do both the restricted and non restricted tests from a chair. You might have some trouble with the part of the test where they ask you to safely climb over a barbed wire fence with a rifle. The correct way to get your gun over is not to reach over the fence and jam the barrel into the ground BTW. They don't find that funny.
